Laurel County Public Schools is a school district headquartered in London, Kentucky. It is one of two districts serving Laurel County, and is the only one of the two to operate high schools. London is a home rule-class city in Laurel County, Kentucky, in the United States. It is the seat of its county. The population was 7,993 at the time of the 2010 census. It is the second-largest city named "London" in the United States and the fourth-largest in the world. It is part of the London, Kentucky micropolitan area. Of the seventeen micropolitan areas in Kentucky, London is the largest; the London micropolitan area's 2010 Census population was 126,369. London is also home to the annual World Chicken Festival that celebrates the life of Colonel Sanders and features the world's largest skillet. Laurel County is a county located in the southeastern portion of the U.S. state of Kentucky. As of the 2020 census, the population was 62,613. Its county seat is London. After a special election in January 2016 alcohol sales are permitted only in the city limits of London. The ordinance went into effect on March 27, 2016, 60 days after results of the election. Laurel County is included in the London, KY Micropolitan Statistical Area. History Laurel County, the 80th county to be organized in Kentucky, was established by an act of the general assembly, December 21, 1825, from parts of Rockcastle, Clay, Knox and Whitley Counties. East Bernstadt Independent School District
East Bernstadt Independent School District is a school district in East Bernstadt, Kentucky. It operates a K-8 school. Its divisions are East Bernstadt Elementary School and East Bernstadt Middle School. Vicki Jones is the district Superintendent. Of the state's current 51 independent school districts, roughly defined by state law as those whose service area does not cover most or all of a county, East Bernstadt is one of four that do not operate a high school, the others being Anchorage in Jefferson County, Science Hill in Pulaski County, and Southgate in Campbell County.
