North Island (rugby Union)
The North Island is a New Zealand men's domestic rugby union team selected from the North Island's players, based on where a they first played senior representative rugby. They played against the South Island in the North vs South match between 1897 and 2012. New Zealand Rugby (NZR) is the governing body of rugby union in New Zealand. It was founded in 1892 as the New Zealand Rugby Football Union (NZRFU), 12 years after the first provincial unions in New Zealand. In 1949 it became an affiliate to the International Rugby Football Board, now known as World Rugby, the governing body of rugby union for the world. Asafo Aumua
Asafo Junior Aumua (; born 5 May 1997) is a New Zealand professional rugby union player who plays as a hooker for New Zealand franchise Hurricanes and the New Zealand national team. In his youth, he was selected to play in the 2016 and 2017 World Rugby Under 20 Championships for New Zealand. Aumua represents the Wellington provincial team and made his professional debut for the union in 2016 at the age of 19. He spent two seasons at the Bunnings NPC side, before earning a place in the Hurricanes 2018 Super Rugby squad. He won a championship with Wellington in 2017 and was named NZRU Age Grade Player of the Year. He has scored 38 career tries in all competitions. Hohepa Te Toiroa Tahuriorangi () (born 31 March 1995) is a New Zealand rugby union player who currently plays as a half-back for in the Mitre 10 Cup and the Crusaders in Super Rugby.
