North High School (Formerly known as North Phoenix High School) is a high school that forms part of the Phoenix Union High School District in Phoenix, Arizona. History North Phoenix High School opened its doors in 1939, becoming the first high school built after George Washington Carver High School, a school that was built for segregation purposes. Closure By 1981, the school's enrollment had fallen to 814. As a result, North High was closed in 1981, and would become one of four schools to close during the 1980s. As a result of the closures, two lawsuits were filed, accusing the Phoenix Union High School District of discriminating against ethnic minorities and low-income students by closing schools in their neighborhoods, in addition to unfair resource allocations. The lawsuits were later consolidated into the ''Castro v. Phoenix Union High School District'' lawsuit, in which a federal judge ruled against the school district. North High School is a public high school in Eastlake, Ohio. It is one of two high schools in the Willoughby-Eastlake City School District. The school was created when the Willoughby Union High School was split into North High School and South High School. At the beginning of the 2019 school year, North opened their new high school on the site of the former baseball fields. The old North was razed and new baseball fields and practice fields for soccer and football were built on the site. Columbus North High School is a public high school building located on the north side of Columbus, Ohio at 100 E. Arcadia Avenue. It is part of the Columbus City School District. The school was closed in 1979 due to declining enrollment. In December 1921, the Columbus Board of Education purchased a thirteen-acre tract of land on Arcadia Ave., which included the old Columbus Sewer Pipe Factory, for $39,000. Famed architect, Frank Packard designed the building, of Tudor Revival architecture, costing approximately $1,000,000. Construction began in 1923 and the building opened on September 2, 1924. It graduated its first class in January 1925. The North High School building served as an adult education center for many years. North High School is a public high school in Akron, Ohio. It is one of seven high schools in the Akron Public Schools district. History North High School was established in 1915 as Akron's fourth high school, after Central, South, and West. The school was originally located at the northwest corner of Dayton Street and East Tallmadge Avenue in what later became Jennings Middle School, a building that stood until 2012. In 1931 the present North High School was built on Gorge Boulevard and housed students in grades 10–12. Completion of the building was delayed 24 years because of the depression and two wars. In 1955 an auditorium, cafeteria, and gymnasium were added, followed by a vocational wing in 1970. The school expanded to serve grades 9–12 in September 1972.
