North Carolina Highway 57 (NC 57) is a primary state highway in the U.S. state of North Carolina and a semi-rural traffic artery connecting Roxboro to a few small-to-medium-sized towns in The Triangle region north of the cities of Durham and Chapel Hill. Route description NC 57 begins at the junction with NC 86 just north of Hillsborough. It heads northeast through Orange County, passing through Schley and intersecting NC 157 in Caldwell. The route crosses into Person County and then runs concurrent with US 501 heading north through Timberlake and Somerset. Upon entering Roxboro, NC 57 and US 501 become concurrent with US 158 before entering town. The three routes intersect the northern terminus of NC 157 at the intersection of Main Street and at Long Avenue, US 158 splits from the NC 57/US 501 concurrency. Hillsborough, North Carolina
The town of Hillsborough is the county seat of Orange County, North Carolina, United States and is located along the Eno River. The population was 6,087 in 2010, but it grew rapidly to 9,660 by 2020. Its name was unofficially shortened to "Hillsboro" during the 19th century. In the late 1960s, residents voted to change the name back to its original, historic spelling. South Boston, Virginia
South Boston, formerly Boyd's Ferry, is a town in Halifax County, Virginia, United States. The population was 8,142 at the 2010 census, down from 8,491 at the 2000 census. It is the most populous town in Halifax County. History On December 8, 1796, the Virginia General Assembly authorized eight commissioners to establish at Boyd's Ferry on the south side of the Dan River the town of South Boston, named for Boston, Massachusetts. North Carolina Highway 62 (NC 62) is a primary state highway in the U.S. state of North Carolina. Primarily in the Piedmont Triad, it runs from NC 109 in Thomasville northeast to the Virginia state line in Milton.
