North Carolina Highway 182 (NC 182) is a primary state highway in the U.S. state of North Carolina. It serves to connect the towns of Polkville and Lawndale with the city of Lincolnton. Route description NC 182 is a two-lane rural highway that begins at NC 226 in Polkville and ends at NC 27 near Lincolnton. The route is a mildly curvy road crossing the First Broad River in Lawndale. All of NC 182 is concurrent with North Carolina Bicycle Route 8. History NC 182 was established in 1952 as a renumbering of NC 180 between Polkville and Fallston and a new primary routing between Fallston and NC 7 near Lincolnton. The route has remained unchanged since inception. The route traverses through southern and central North Carolina, about of it as a concurrency with NC 24. Route description NC 27 begins in Cleveland County near the unincorporated community of Toluca at a T-intersection with NC 10. From there it runs southeast to the city of Lincolnton. In Lincolnton, it serves as Main Street, and runs past the Lincoln County courthouse. From Lincolnton, it runs southeast again to Stanley where it follows Main Street. When two roadways share the same right-of-way, it is sometimes called a common section or commons. Lawndale is a town in Cleveland County, North Carolina, United States, situated along the First Broad River. The population was 606 at the 2010 census. History Lawndale developed in the late 19th century around the Cleveland Mills plant established by Major H.F. Schenck. The town was named for the green lawns of the houses where many of the mill's workers lived. Schenck's daughter and son-in-law opened the Piedmont Academy in 1897, and rail service to Shelby began two years later.
