North Carolina Highway 151 (NC 151) is a north-south state highway located in western Buncombe County. NC 151 provides a direct access to the Blue Ridge Parkway from the west side of the Asheville vicinity. Route description NC 151 has its southern end at the Blue Ridge Parkway near Mount Pisgah and briefly parallels the parkway for the first before turning west. Shortly after, NC 151 turns back north. NC 151 travels north, passing through Stony Fork then South Hominy as it turns northeast. NC 151 also passes through Glady before reaching the unincorporated community of Candler as it nears its end. North Carolina Highway 112 (NC 112) is an east–west state highway in western North Carolina in Buncombe County, southwest of downtown Asheville. Route description NC 112 begins at its western end at US 19/US 23 (Smokey Park Highway) in the unincorporated community of Enka, but within the city limits of Asheville. From here it travels south and then east on Sand Hill Road before turning southeasterly on Sardis Road then ending at North Carolina Highway 191 (Brevard Road) in the Asheville community of Venable. Though both ends are within the city limits, short portions of the road exit the city. Throughout most of the length, the Pisgah National Forest's border is located on the south side of the road. Monroe is a city in and the county seat of Union County, North Carolina, United States. The population increased from 32,797 in 2010 to 34,551 in 2020. It is within the rapidly growing Charlotte metropolitan area. Monroe has a council-manager form of government. History Monroe was founded as a planned settlement. In 1843, the first Board of County Commissioners, appointed by the General Assembly, selected an area in the center of the county as the county seat, and Monroe was incorporated that year. It was named for James Monroe, the country's fifth president. It became a trading center for the agricultural areas of the Piedmont region, which cultivated tobacco. North Carolina Highway 20 (NC 20) is a North Carolina state highway that runs through Hoke, Robeson and Bladen counties. It serves as a major road in each of the three incorporated communities through which it passes. The route is co-designated as St. Pauls Road in Raeford, Main Street in Lumber Bridge, and Broad Street in St. Pauls. Route description NC 20 begins at its western terminus at NC 211 and runs concurrent with US 401 Bus. along Central Avenue for about in Raeford. Mount Pisgah is a mountain in the Appalachian mountain range and part of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, United States. The mountain's height is 5,721 feet (1,744 m) above sea level, and it sits approximately 15 miles (24 kilometers) southwest of Asheville, near the crossing of the boundaries of Buncombe, Haywood, Henderson and Transylvania counties. It is located on the border of Buncombe and Haywood counties, close to the point where Henderson and Transylvania meet them, but not actually within the latter two counties.
