Norodom Chakravuth
Norodom Chakravuth ( km, នរោត្តម ចក្រាវុធ ; born 13 January 1970) is a Cambodian politician, member of the Cambodian royal family and the current president of the FUNCINPEC. Name Norodom Chakravuth is a descendant of the Norodom branch of the Cambodian monarchy. His name Chakravuth literally translates from Sanskrit as the one who has the ''chakra'' as a weapon, and refers to the ''Chakravarti'', an ancient Indian term used to refer to an ideal universal ruler. Biography From royal to exile Norodom Chakravuth was born 13 January 1970, as the first-born of Prince Norodom Ranariddh and Eng Marie. When Lon Nol staged a successful coup against Sihanouk in March 1970, his father Ranariddh was dismissed from his position in government, sent his family to France and fled into the jungle where he was a close associate of resistance leaders. 1970 Cambodian Coup D'état
The 1970 Cambodian coup d'état ( km, រដ្ឋប្រហារឆ្នាំ១៩៧០, french: Coup d'État de 1970) was the removal of the Cambodian Chief of State, Prince Norodom Sihanouk, after a vote in the National Assembly on 18 March 1970. Emergency powers were subsequently invoked by the Prime Minister Lon Nol, who became effective head of state, and led ultimately to the removal of Queen Sisowath Kossamak and the proclamation of the Khmer Republic later that year. It is generally seen as a turning point in the Cambodian Civil War. No longer a monarchy, Cambodia was semi-officially called ''"État du Cambodge"'' (State of Cambodia) in the intervening six months after the coup, until the republic was proclaimed. Unanimity
Unanimity is agreement by all people in a given situation. Groups may consider unanimous decisions as a sign of social, political or procedural agreement, solidarity, and unity. Unanimity may be assumed explicitly after a unanimous vote or implicitly by a lack of objections. Norodom Arunrasmy ( km, នរោត្តម អរុណរស្មី; born 2 October 1955) is a Cambodian princess, politician, and diplomat. She is the youngest daughter of Norodom Sihanouk, HM King Father Norodom Sihanouk and stepdaughter of Norodom Monineath, Queen Mother Norodom Monineath. Her birth mother is Mam Manivan Phanivong, a Lao people, Lao woman who was born in Vientiane, Laos and married King Sihanouk in 1949. Sar Kheng ( km, ស ខេង; born 15 January 1951) is a Cambodian politician. One of the highest-ranking members of the ruling Cambodian People's Party, he is the current Interior minister, Minister of the Interior and has served as a Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia since 1992. He also represents the province of Battambang Province, Battambang in the Parliament of Cambodia, Cambodian Parliament. Kheng has been the Minister of the Interior since 1992. Norodom Monineath Sihanouk ( km, នរោត្ដម មុនីនាថ សីហនុ, ; born Paule Monique Izzi; 18 June 1936) is the queen mother of Cambodia. She was queen consort of Cambodia from 1993 to 2004, as the wife of King Norodom Sihanouk.
