Norman Wexler
Norman Wexler (August 16, 1926 – August 23, 1999) was an American screenwriter whose work included films such as ''Saturday Night Fever'', ''Serpico'' and '' Joe''. A New Bedford, Massachusetts native and 1944 Central High School graduate in Detroit, Wexler attended Harvard University before moving to New York in 1951. Career Wexler wrote the screenplays for several hit films, most notably '' Joe'', ''Serpico'', '' Mandingo'' and ''Saturday Night Fever''. He received Oscar nominations for '' Joe'' and ''Serpico''. According to Bob Zmuda, ''Saturday Night Fever'' made Wexler a wealthy man. He was a much sought-after script doctor, reworking the scripts for ''Lipstick'' and '' The Fan''. Wexler also was a serious and accomplished playwright. Several of his plays were produced off-Broadway and in regional theaters. New Bedford, Massachusetts
New Bedford (Massachusett: ) is a city in Bristol County, Massachusetts. It is located on the Acushnet River in what is known as the South Coast region. Up through the 17th century, the area was the territory of the Wampanoag Native American people. English colonists bought the land on which New Bedford would later be built from the Wampanoag in 1652, and the original colonial settlement that would later become the city was founded by English Quakers in the late 17th century. The town of New Bedford itself was officially incorporated in 1787. During the first half of the 19th century, New Bedford was one of the world's most important whaling ports. ''WTF with Marc Maron'' is a weekly podcast and radio show hosted by stand-up comedian Marc Maron. The show was launched in September 2009. The show is produced by Maron's former Air America co-worker Brendan McDonald. Background The show's title stems from the Internet slang abbreviation ''WTF'' (for "What the fuck?"). ''WTF'' launched in September 2009 following the cancellation of Maron's Air America terrestrial radio program '' Breakroom Live with Maron & Seder''. Gary Martin DeVore (September 17, 1941 – June 28, 1997) was a Hollywood screenwriter, best known for witty action films and for his own bizarre death in 1997. Early career DeVore began his writing career in the late 1960s on shows like Chuck Barris' ''The Newlywed Game'', ''The Steve Allen Show'', and ''Tempo''. Personal life, death, and aftermath DeVore married the singer Maria Cole (1969–1978) and the actresses Sandie Newton (1981–1985), Claudia Christian (1988–1992), and Wendy Oates (1996–1997). ''Staying Alive'' is a 1983 American dance musical film and the sequel to ''Saturday Night Fever'' (1977).
