Norman Frank
Norman Joseph Fetbrod (February 18, 1925 – 11 May 2007), better known by his professional name Norman Frank, was an American public relations executive and politician who helped the Patrolmen's Benevolent Association (PBA) defeat a civilian complaint review board proposed by New York City Mayor John V. Lindsay. Frank was chief strategist for PBA president John Cassese. Born in Manhattan, Frank worked as a law clerk after high school, then attended Michigan State University before joining the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked in advertising upon return and was a producer and director of ''Star of the Family'' which ran on CBS from 1950 to 1952. Public relations (PR) is the practice of managing and disseminating information from an individual or an organization (such as a business, government agency, or a nonprofit organization) to the public in order to influence their perception. ''Wide Wide World'' is a 1955–1958 90-minute documentary series telecast live on NBC on Sunday afternoons at 4pm Eastern. Conceived by network head Pat Weaver and hosted by Dave Garroway, ''Wide Wide World'' was introduced on the ''Producers' Showcase'' series on June 27, 1955. The premiere episode, featuring entertainment from the US, Canada and Mexico, was the first international North American telecast in the history of the medium. It returned in the fall as a regular Sunday series, telecast from October 16, 1955 to June 8, 1958. The program was sponsored by General Motors and Barry Wood was the executive producer. David Dinkins
David Norman Dinkins (July 10, 1927 – November 23, 2020) was an American politician, lawyer, and author who served as the 106th mayor of New York City from 1990 to 1993. He was the first African American to hold the office. Before entering politics, Dinkins was among the more than 20,000 Montford Point Marines, the first African-American U.S. Marines; he served from 1945 to 1946. ''The Jonathan Winters Show'' is the first of two American television network Variety show television programs to be hosted by comedian Jonathan Winters. The television series was broadcast from October 1956 to June 1957 on NBC. Synopsis This ''Jonathan Winters Show'' was aired at the beginning of prime time, from 7:30 to 7:45 PM Eastern time on Tuesday nights, to round out the half-hour containing NBC's evening newscast, which was at the time, like all similar programs, likewise only 15 minutes long. This program replaced the Tuesday night broadcast of '' The Dinah Shore Show'', which, since 1951, was broadcast on both Tuesday and Thursday nights and reduced in October 1956 to Thursday nights only.
