Norm Potter
Norm Potter (1893–1951) was an Australian professional rugby league footballer in the 1910s and '20s. A Queensland state and Australia national representative front-row forward, he was one of Queensland's early stalwart star players, making forty-four state appearances in an unbroken representative career between 1918 and 1927. Career Potter's early club career was with Wests Brisbane. In 1918 he was selected and captained the first post-World War I Queensland state side. He toured New Zealand with the Australian representative side in 1919 making a sole Test appearance. He played a match for Queensland against the 1920 Great Britain Lions tourists and went on to make six further Test appearances, playing at front-row in all three Tests of both the 1920 and the 1924 domestic Ashes series against Great Britain. Wests Panthers
The Western Suburbs Panthers, often simply referred to as Wests for short, are a rugby league club based in the western suburbs of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The club is the oldest in the QRL and despite absences from the top grade in recent years and several name changes the club continued to operate. After leaving the Queensland Cup, they participated in the Brisbane A-Grade competition from 2005 until their senior sides disbanding in 2012. In 2013, the club entered a voluntary hiatus, but was announced to be part of the revived Brisbane Rugby League. Kangaroo Tour
Kangaroo Tour is the name given to Australian national rugby league team tours of Great Britain and France, tours to New Zealand and the one-off tour to Papua New Guinea (1991). The first Kangaroo Tour was in 1908. Traditionally, Kangaroo Tours took place every four years and involved a three-Test Rugby League Ashes, Ashes series against Great Britain Lions, Great Britain (sometimes called Northern Union or The Lions) and a number of tour matches. The 1911/12 and 1921/22 tours were by the Australasia rugby league team, Australasian Kangaroos as both teams included New Zealand players. Some Kangaroo tours to Great Britain and France also included international friendly matches against Wales national rugby league team, Wales, though these games were not given test match status. Queensland Rugby League Team Players
There have been over 200 rugby league footballers who have played for Queensland in State of Origin since its inception in 1980. All players who have been selected to debut for the Queensland in State of Origin matches have been assigned a number by the Queensland Rugby League. Alan James Whiticker (born 1958) is an Australian non-fiction author and publisher, with over 50 published books on history, sport, biography, true crime and lifestyle. Whiticker writes primarily on matters pertaining to the history of the sport of rugby league in Australia, but he has also published works on subjects as diverse as classical film, pop culture, the Wanda Beach Murders and an adaptation of Homer's ''Iliad''. Bill Schultz (Australian Rugby League Player)
Bill 'Changa' Schultz (1891-1975) was an Australian professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1910s and 1920s. An Australia national and New South Wales state representative prop forward, he played his club football in Sydney for Balmain, with whom he won six premierships between 1915 and 1924. Playing career Of German and Irish descent, Schultz was a Balmain junior who also played Australian Rules football at the local Christian Brothers with another future Balmain champion, Charles ‘Chook’ Fraser. Balmain went through the 1915 NSWRFL season undefeated, and Schultz tasted his first premiership success with the club. Clarrie Prentice
Clarence Warwick Prentice (1 July 1891 – 10 March 1948) was an Australian rugby union and rugby league footballer who represented his country at both sports - a dual-code rugby international. He is the younger brother of fellow Wests player Ward Prentice. Rugby union career Prentice played rugby union with the Western Suburbs Rugby Club in Sydney and represented with the Wallabies as a prop in 1914 against the All Blacks. Rugby league career In 1915 Clarrie, and his brother Archie, joined the Western Suburbs Rugby League Club. His international rugby league debut against New Zealand in Wellington on 23 August 1919, alongside Claud O'Donnell saw them become Australia's 20th and 21st dual code rugby internationals. Great Britain National Rugby League Team
The Great Britain national rugby league team represents Great Britain in rugby league. Administered by the Rugby Football League (RFL), the team is nicknamed The Lions. For most of the 20th century, the Great Britain team toured overseas, played against foreign touring teams and competed in the Rugby League World Cup, which they won three times: in 1954, 1960 and 1972. Since 1995, the RFL has sent separate home nations teams to the World Cup. Great Britain continued to compete as a Test playing nation both home and away. Brisbane Rugby League Premiership
The Brisbane Rugby League is a rugby league football competition in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It was first held in 1922 and for every year until 1997. The competition was reinstated in 2001, known as the FOGS premiership under the Queensland Cup. The competition consists of Brisbane's top six rugby league clubs. Each participating team is a feeder club for the Queensland Cup. Prior to 1922, the competition was conducted under the auspices of the Queensland Rugby League.
