Norm Pope (1956 Australia)
Norman Daniel Pope (1908–1985) was a professional rugby league footballer in the Australian competition, the New South Wales Rugby League. Career Pope played in the halves at the Eastern Suburbs club for five seasons in the years 1927–31.In the 1931 season Pope captained the side that lost to South Sydney in the 1931 Grand Final. From 1932, he moved to the Maitland United club as captain-coach. Then he took on the captain-coach role at Tumbarumba for three seasons (1933-1936) before returning to Sydney. He then joined the St George Dragons club, again taking on a captain-coach role (1937-1938). Tumbarumba
Tumbarumba ( ) is a small town in New South Wales, Australia, about southwest of the state capital, Sydney. Tumbarumba is located on the periphery of the Riverina and South West Slopes regions at the western edge of the Snowy Mountains. Neville Smith (rugby League)
Neville Bussey Smith (13 December 1915 – 5 August 1997) was an Australian rugby league footballer who played in the 1930s and 1940s. A Queensland Queensland Maroons, state representative, Smith became a 1941 NSWRFL season, premiership winning captain-coach with Sydney's St George Dragons, St. George club. In seasons 1939 NSWRFL season, 1939 & 1941 NSWRFL season, 1941 he was the NSWRFL premiership's top point scorer. Career After moving from Bathurst, New South Wales, Bathurst to Queensland in 1935, Smith played club football in the Brisbane Rugby League premiership for three seasons with Fortitude Valley Diehards, Fortitude Valley and represented for the Queensland Maroons, Maroons on two occasions in 1938. In 1939 NSWRFL season, 1939 he returned south to play in the New South Wales Rugby Football League premiership with the St. George Dragons, St. George club and was the league's top point-scorer that season. Frank Burge
Frank Burge (14 August 1894 – 5 July 1958) was one of the greatest forwards in the history of rugby league in Australia. Later Burge became one of the game’s finest coaches. His club career was with Glebe and the St. George Dragons. He represented New South Wales on twenty-six occasions and played thirteen test matches for the Kangaroos and played for Australia in a further twenty-three tour matches. Early years Born on 14 August 1894 in Darlington, New South Wales, Burge was playing first grade rugby union at age 14, the youngest ever to play senior rugby in either code.
