Norm Henderson (rugby League)
Norm Henderson is an Australian former rugby league footballer who played in the 1960s and 1970s. Career Norm Henderson career began at Balmain in 1964. He played four seasons with the Tigers moving to the St. George in 1968, to take over the vacant Hooking position after the retirement of Ian Walsh the previous year. Henderson played on at St George for four seasons between 1968 - 1971. He then went on to captain the Cessnock Goannas rugby league club, where he gained legendary status when he captained/coached the club to the Newcastle Premiership in 1972. Death Henderson died at Cessnock Hospital on 22 Aug 1975, 3 months after a major brain operation. Balmain Tigers
The Balmain Tigers (also known as the Sydney Tigers from 1995–96) are a rugby league club based in the inner-western Sydney suburb of Balmain. They were a founding member of the New South Wales Rugby League and one of the most successful in the history of the premiership, with eleven titles. In 1999 they formed a joint venture club with the Western Suburbs Magpies club to form the Wests Tigers for competition in the National Rugby League (NRL). They no longer field any senior teams in the lower divisions. At the time of the joint venture only South Sydney Rabbitohs and the St George Dragons had won more titles than the Tigers. New South Wales Country Rugby League Team
The Country New South Wales rugby league team is a representative rugby league football team. Between 1987 and 2017 there were two tiers: the Origin team that consisted of professional players who originated from clubs of the Country Rugby League and a representative team of amateur and semi-professional players. The Country Origin team played annually in the City vs Country Origin competition against the City New South Wales rugby league team, which was made up of players originating from Sydney. This match was discontinued in 2017. The representative team has played in a number of formats over the years: quad and tri series, annual fixtures and tour matches. Ian Walsh (rugby League)
Ian John Walsh (20 March 1933 – 4 April 2013) was an Australian professional rugby league footballer and coach. He was a with the St. George Dragons from 1962 to 1967 and played in the last five of the Dragons’ historic 11 consecutive premiership winning teams. He captained St. George in the last of its 11 successive Grand Final wins in 1966 and led The Saints again when their premiership winning streak ended in 1967. He was a representative for Australia and captained them in 10 Test matches from 1963 to 1966.
