Norfolk Island competed at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England between 28 July and 8 August. It was Norfolk Island's tenth appearance at the Games. It was the most successful campaign to date for the women, making quarter-finals in 3 of 4 disciplines. The flag of Norfolk Island is a triband consisting of green, white, and green bands charged with a green Norfolk Island pine in the centre. Adopted in 1979 when the islands gained limited self-government, it has been the flag of the Territory of Norfolk Island since 6 June of that year. The pine is native to the territory and is its official tree. History Norfolk Island was first sighted by James Cook in 1774 during his second voyage to the southern Pacific Ocean. Settlers moved to the island in March 1788, when it was claimed by the colony of New South Wales. Bowls career World Outdoor Championship In 2016, Daniels won the gold medal with Jess Sims in the pairs at the 2016 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Christchurch. In 2020, she was selected for the 2020 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Australia but the event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Colleen Piketh (' Webb; born 26 December 1972) is a South African international lawn bowler. Bowls career In 2007 she won the singles gold medal at the Atlantic Bowls Championships. In 2011 she won the pairs and fours silver medals at the Atlantic Bowls Championships. Piketh competed in the women's pairs and the women's singles events at the 2014 Commonwealth Games where she won a gold and bronze medal respectively. She won a gold medal in the women's pairs at the World Bowls Atlantic Bowls Championships in Cyprus in 2015, together with Nici Neal. Hadyn Paul "Teddy" Evans (born 15 October 1962) is a Norfolk Island businessman, actor and local government politician. He is also an international lawn bowler. Biography Evans was born in Hamilton, New Zealand, as an "eighth-generation descendant of the Bounty mutineers". He was educated at the Norfolk Island Central School. Evans runs a boutique piggery and market garden in Anson Bay. He took up acting relatively late in life and has appeared in a number of theatre productions both on the island and in mainland Australia. In March 2013, Evans was elected to the Norfolk Legislative Assembly as an independent candidate. He remained a member until the assembly's abolition in June 2015.
