Norman David Levinson (April 20, 1900 – October 25, 1972) known professionally as Norman Norell, was an American fashion designer famed for his elegant gowns, suits, and tailored silhouettes. His designs for the Traina-Norell and Norell fashion houses became famous for their detailing, simple, timeless designs, and tailored construction. By the mid-twentieth century Norell dominated the American fashion industry and in 1968 he became the first American fashion designer to launch his own brand of perfume. Born in Noblesville, Indiana, Norell arrived in New York City in 1919, studied fashion illustration and fashion design at Parsons School of Design and Pratt Institute, and began his career designing costumes for silent-film stars. Before partnering with Anthony Traina to form the Train-Norell fashion house in 1941, Norell spent twelve years with Hattie Carnegie as a designer for her custom-order house. Mark Norell
Mark Allen Norell (born July 26, 1957) is an American paleontologist, acknowledged as one of the most important living vertebrate paleontologists. He is currently the chairman of paleontology and a research associate at the American Museum of Natural History. He is best known as the discoverer of the first theropod embryo and for the description of feathered dinosaurs. Norell is credited with the naming of the genera ''Apsaravis'', '' Byronosaurus'', ''Citipati'', ''Tsaagan'', and ''Achillobator''. His work regularly appears in major scientific journals (including cover stories in Science and Nature) and was listed by Time magazine as one of the ten most significant science stories of 1993, 1994 and 1996. Michael Norell
Michael Alden Norell (born October 4, 1937 in Wallace, Idaho) is an American screenwriter, actor, and executive producer who starred as Captain Henry "Hank" Stanley in the Jack Webb-produced television series ''Emergency!'' from 1972 to 1978. Norell was born in Wallace, Idaho. His family moved to follow his father who was in the Army, and who ultimately retired with the rank of Brigadier General. His father was sent to Korea during the war. The family lived in Tokyo, Japan. Norell returned to the States after the war and attended Falls Church High School in Virginia where he acted in several school plays. He attended college at Washington and Lee University where he majored in journalism. Ingeborg Norell
Ingeborg Norell (born ''Ingeborg Stenborg''; 1727, apparently in Porvoo in present-day Finland – 1782), was the first Finnish woman to have received an official decoration and to have been the subject of a commemorative plaque. She gained recognition for saving a child's life in the village of Germund in Tenala. In April 1780, a two-year-old girl was rescued after falling into a well, but she was in a lifeless state and presumed to have drowned. Norell, 53, was at the scene and was familiar with life-saving guidelines published by the Collegium Medicum, the forerunner of the board of medicine.
