Nordic Yards Wismar
Lloyd Werft Wismar (former '' VEB Mathias-Thesen-Werft Wismar'', ''Aker MTW Werft'', ''Wadan Yards MTW'', ''Nordic Yards Wismar'') is a German shipbuilding company, headquartered in Wismar. Since June 1, 1990 it has been part of the Deutschen Maschinen- und Schiffbau AG (DMS AG), 2009–2016 was part of the Nordic Yards Holding GmbH, and since 2016 is part of the Lloyd Werft Group. History The ship repair yard was founded by Red Army on April 27, 1946. The ''Ivan Susanin'' was the first ship repaired at this yard. Volkseigener Betrieb
The Publicly Owned Enterprise (german: Volkseigener Betrieb; abbreviated VEB) was the main legal form of industrial enterprise in East Germany. They were all publicly owned and were formed after Nationalisation#Germany, mass nationalisation between 1945 and the early 1960s, and the handing back in 1954 of some 33 enterprises previously taken by the Soviet Union as War reparations, reparations. The Volkhov (russian: Во́лхов) is a river in Novgorodsky and Chudovsky Districts of Novgorod Oblast and Kirishsky and Volkhovsky Districts of Leningrad Oblast in northwestern Russia. MS ''Mikhail Lermontov'' was an ocean liner owned by the Soviet Union's Baltic Shipping Company, built in 1972 by V.E.B. Mathias-Thesen Werft, Wismar, East Germany. MS ''Marco Polo'' was a cruise ship originally built as ocean liner ''Aleksandr Pushkin'' in 1965 by Mathias-Thesen-Werft, East Germany for the Soviet Union's Baltic Shipping Company. After major alterations and additions, the ship sailed as ''Marco Polo'' for Orient Lines from 1993 to 2008. MS ''Siritara Ocean Queen'' was a cruise ship owned since 2006 by Siritara Enterprise in Thailand. She was built in 1964 by VEB Mathias-Thesen Werft, Wismar, East Germany as ''Bashkiriya'' for the Soviet Union's Black Sea Shipping Company. It was named after an Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic in the former Soviet Union Bashkir Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. The ship capsized 10 October 2006 and was a total loss. MS ''Excelsior Neptune'' (originally, the ''Feliks Dzerzhinskiy'') was an ocean liner owned by the Soviet Union's Black Sea Shipping Company. She was built in 1958 by VEB Mathias-Thesen Werft, Wismar, East Germany, as one of the Mikhail Kalinin series of ships. It was named after Felix Dzerzhinsky, a Soviet statesman and founder of the Soviet secret police (Cheka).
