Basingstoke And Deane
Basingstoke and Deane is a local government district and borough in Hampshire, England. Its primary settlement is Basingstoke. Other settlements include Bramley, Tadley, Kingsclere, Overton, Oakley, Whitchurch and the village of Deane, some from Basingstoke. It is the northernmost borough of Hampshire, bordered by Berkshire to the north. The first Basingstoke Mayor, George Baynard, was appointed in 1641. The district was formed as the District of Basingstoke on 1 April 1974 by the merger of the borough of Basingstoke, Basingstoke Rural District and Kingsclere and Whitchurch Rural District. On 20 January 1978, following the grant of borough status, the district became the Borough of Basingstoke and Deane. The council claims that the new title included the names of the largest town and smallest village in the borough, although there are eight civil parishes with populations smaller than Deane. Norden Hartman
Norden Hartman (1921–1989) was a South African archivist and herald. He joined the State Archives in 1948, and rose to the grade of senior archivist. He transferred to the Bureau of Heraldry when it was established in 1963, and was promoted to State Herald when Dr Coenraad Beyers retired in 1964. He served as State Herald until his own retirement in 1982. As State Herald, Hartman established the Bureau as a respected heraldic office, encouraged the development of a distinctive artistic style (strongly influenced by Finnish practice), and innovations such as new lines of partition. The centenary of the archives service in 1976 gave the Bureau an opportunity to showcase its work. Nordische Gesellschaft
The ''Nordische Gesellschaft'' ("Nordic Society") was an association founded in 1921, with the objective of strengthening German-Nordic cultural and political cooperation. It was based in Lübeck, Germany. The association had both German and Scandinavian members. After the Nazi Party's takeover of Germany in 1933, the ''Nordische Gesellschaft'' came under the control of Alfred Rosenberg. A new board was formed. Rosenberg's ambition was that the organization could be utilized for the Nazi cause. Heinrich Himmler became a member of the board. As of 1940, the association had 40 local branches in different parts of Germany. The association published a notable number of books and brochures which were distributed in Scandinavia. Norden Farm Centre for the Arts is a multi form arts centre located in Maidenhead, Berkshire, England providing a 225-seat theatre and 100-seat studio space. Following calls for an arts centre in Maidenhead since the 1970s, Norden Farm eventually opened in September 2000. Norden Cricket Club, known as Greenbooth Cricket Club until 1920, are an English cricket club. They are currently branded ''Norden (J.W. Lees) CC'' as part of a sponsorship deal with a brewery and play their home fixtures at Stag Park, Norden, Rochdale, Greater Manchester. They have an indirect link to Norden F.C., refounded in 2002 by a group of members of the cricket club. History Greenbooth Cricket Club was formed in 1875 with no permanent home. By 1876 matches were played in a field near a local mill, whose owner was later the club's president. A small pavilion was built. In 1881 the club moved temporarily to Pithouses in Norden village, but the following year matches were instead held at a new venue, Woodhouse Lane, where a square was laid at a cost of £18 - 6 s - 8 d. The Norden Mk. XV, known as the Norden M series in U.S. Army service, is a bombsight that was used by the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) and the United States Navy during World War II, and the United States Air Force in the Korean and the Vietnam Wars. It was an early tachometric design that directly measured the aircraft's ground speed and direction, which older bombsights could only estimate with lengthy manual procedures. The Norden further improved on older designs by using an analog computer that continuously recalculated the bomb's impact point based on changing flight conditions, and an autopilot that reacted quickly and accurately to changes in the wind or other effects. Norden Tenzing Bhutia was a musician, composer and singer of classic Nepali pop songs like 'Musu Musu Hasi Deu', 'Gajalu le Aakhai Chopne', 'Kaha Timro Mayalu Lai'.
