Norden Bombsight
The Norden Mk. XV, known as the Norden M series in U.S. Army service, is a bombsight that was used by the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) and the United States Navy during World War II, and the United States Air Force in the Korean and the Vietnam Wars. It was an early tachometric design that directly measured the aircraft's ground speed and direction, which older bombsights could only estimate with lengthy manual procedures. The Norden further improved on older designs by using an analog computer that continuously recalculated the bomb's impact point based on changing flight conditions, and an autopilot that reacted quickly and accurately to changes in the wind or other effects. Together, these features promised unprecedented accuracy for daytime bombing from high altitudes. Norden Farm Centre For The Arts
Norden Farm Centre for the Arts is a multi form arts centre located in Maidenhead, Berkshire, England providing a 225-seat theatre and 100-seat studio space. Following calls for an arts centre in Maidenhead since the 1970s, Norden Farm eventually opened in September 2000. Under the direction of Annabel Turpin, the art centre built up an outstanding reputation within the South of England, with a number of top professionals from the worlds of theatre, spoken word, cabaret, comedy, jazz, classical music and literature performing there. Annabel moved in May 2008 to ARC, Stockton Arts Centre, on Teesside. Norden Cricket Club
Norden Cricket Club, known as Greenbooth Cricket Club until 1920, are an English cricket club. They are currently branded ''Norden (J.W. Lees) CC'' as part of a sponsorship deal with a brewery and play their home fixtures at Stag Park, Norden, Rochdale, Greater Manchester. They have an indirect link to Norden F.C., refounded in 2002 by a group of members of the cricket club. History Greenbooth Cricket Club was formed in 1875 with no permanent home. By 1876 matches were played in a field near a local mill, whose owner was later the club's president. A small pavilion was built. In 1881 the club moved temporarily to Pithouses in Norden village, but the following year matches were instead held at a new venue, Woodhouse Lane, where a square was laid at a cost of £18 - 6 s - 8 d. Norden Systems
Norden Systems was an American manufacturer of radar systems. History The Norden Laboratories Corporation was founded in New York City in 1943 to conduct research, while the separate Carl L. Norden Corporation built Norden bombsight, Norden bombsights. In 1949, the company was purchased by Paul W. Adams. Then, in 1955 it was merged with the Ketay Instrument Corporation to form Norden-Ketay Corporation. The company was bought by United Aircraft in 1958. It remained a subsidiary through the transition to United Technologies – in the process absorbing Dynell Electronics Corporation and becoming Norden Systems – before being sold to Westinghouse Electric in 1994. However, following an employee backlash due to a planned move to Baltimore, it was sold for a final time to Northrop Grumman in 1996. Norden, California
Norden is a small unincorporated community in Nevada County, California, United States, about west of Truckee. The community is located on a former portion of U.S. Route 40 near Interstate 80 and lies along the historical First transcontinental railroad, west of Donner Pass. Near Norden is the Sugar Bowl Ski Resort and Donner Ski Ranch, located in nearby Placer County. The Norden post office, named after the lake, opened in 1926, closed in 1943, and reopened in 1947, and is now closed. The nearby Donner post office operated from 1882 to 1926. The place is named for Charles Van Norden, an official of the South Yuba Water Company. The dam was built in 1900 and the resulting lake was named after Van Norden. The community has a population of 27 as of 2016. Norden is a suburban village in the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, in Greater Manchester, England. Historically part of Lancashire, the village is situated on the western outskirts of Rochdale. There is a Rochdale Ward with the same name. At the 2011 Census, this ward had a population of 9,766. As a result of changes to boundaries, Norden ward is divided between the Heywood and Middleton and Rochdale constituencies, represented in Parliament by Chris Clarkson (of the Conservative Party) and Tony Lloyd (of the Labour Party). Norden Tenzing Bhutia was a musician, composer and singer of classic Nepali pop songs like 'Musu Musu Hasi Deu', 'Gajalu le Aakhai Chopne', 'Kaha Timro Mayalu Lai'. In the 70's Bhutia was the vocalist and guitarist of the very popular Nepali ensemble, ''The Himalayans''. Bhutia is credited with transforming Nepali music and heralding a change in musical taste and content. Bhutia was one of the pioneers to introduce rock, pop and blues to Nepali mainstream music. Life and career Bhutia was born in Kolkata on 21 January 1950 and raised in Kurseong (Darjeeling).
