The NorZone Premier League is a semi-professional soccer league in Darwin, Australia. The NorZone Premier League is one of three top tier state-level soccer competition in the Northern Territory of Australia. It comprises teams within the NorZone region, centred in Darwin and the surrounding rural areas. The league is conducted by the state administrative body, Football Northern Territory. The Australian soccer league system is the league structure for soccer clubs in Australia. The league system in Australia since 1977 has involved one top divisional league controlled by Football Australia and many leagues run within each state below. The National Soccer League stood from 1977 to 2004 as the top nationwide tier above the current state-based league systems, in 2005, the A-League was established as its successor. The introduction of the National Premier Leagues in 2013 introduced a direct second tier of soccer in Australia, underpinning the A-League. The National Premier Leagues incorporated the existing state leagues as divisions with a nationwide end of season finals series. Football Northern Territory (FNT) is the state governing body for soccer in the Northern Territory, Australia. It is affiliated with Football Australia, the national governing body. The Territory is also separated into three zones – Northern, Central and FICA (Southern) – which have their own zone councils which administer leagues locally running their own league and cup competitions. There is currently no overall champion – the regional winners in 2016 were Hellenic Athletic Club (Northern Zone) and Celtic (FICA). University Azzurri Football Club is an Australian semi-professional football club based in Darwin, the Northern Territory. Founded in 1999 as University Rangers, the club merged with Nakara Azzurri in 2010 to form University Azzurri. The club currently competes in the NorZone Premier League, with matches played at University Oval. The club maintains affiliation with Charles Darwin University. Port Darwin FC
Port Darwin Football Club is an Australian soccer club based in Darwin, which competes in the NorZone Premier League. History Port Darwin FC was formed in 1996 following a merger of two prominent junior Darwin football clubs. Parap and St Mary's came together and with the senior Waratahs Club joining the fledgling club in 2006, the claret and blue's were formed. Six years later Port Darwin FC secured its first Premiership, defeating Darwin Olympic 5–1 in the 2012 Grand Final. The club's home ground is Gardens Oval, centrally located in the heart of Darwin. Darwin Olympic Sporting Club is an Australian soccer club based in Darwin, the Northern Territory. Founded in 1967, Darwin Olympic currently competes in the NorZone Premier League. The club has seen great success, becoming Premiers and Champions of 2008 in the NT Northern Zone Premier League.
