Geography Noosaville is bounded by the Noosa River to the north, Weyba Creek to the east, the shoreline of Lake Weyba (the lake being within the suburb). Noosa River Caravan Park is a heritage-listed caravan park at Russell Street, Noosaville, Queensland, Noosaville, Shire of Noosa, Queensland, Australia. It was built from 1929 onwards. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 3 April 2009. History Noosa River Caravan Park is located between Russell Street and the Noosa River at Noosaville at a site known as Munna Point. It was established in 1956 as a reserve for camping and recreation under the trusteeship of the Shire of Noosa, Noosa Shire Council. Previously the land had been reserved for public purposes from 1884 and camping on the site is recorded from . As motorised transport became dominant and leisure time increased, particularly post-World War II, this site was established as a caravan park to meet the needs of the growing number of caravanning holiday-makers whose destination was the North Coast. Noosa River
The Noosa River is a river situated in South East Queensland. The catchment starts in the Como Escarpment near Mount Elliott in the coastal Great Sandy National Park and meanders south through a lakes district around Tewantin. Lakes situated on the river include Lake Cooloola, Lake Como, Lake Cootharaba, Lake Cooroibah and Lake Weyba. The catchment is mostly covered by sand dunes and has two major tributaries—Kin Kin Creek and Teewah Creek. The Noosa River enters the Coral Sea between Noosa Heads and Noosa North Shore. Tewantin ( ) is a rural town and locality in the Shire of Noosa, Queensland, Australia. In the , Tewantin had a population of 10,920 people. Tewantin was the original settlement in the Noosa region and is one of its three major centres today. History The name ''Tewantin'' is an anglicised version of the Aboriginal name for the area, ''dauwadhum'', meaning place of dead logs, because of the sawmill there. Tewantin was originally a timber town. In 1869, Tewantin was the river port for the Noosa area. In 1871, Clarendon Stuart surveyed a town site for the Tewantin settlement.
