Nooralhaq Nasimi
Nooralhaq Nasimi (born 1967) is a former refugee who fled Afghanistan with his family, and who now campaigns for refugee rights in Europe and his former home country. In 2001 he founded the Afghanistan and Central Asian Association, a charity dedicated to helping refugees in London to integrate. He currently serves as the organisation's director and in 2011 he founded the European Campaign for Human Rights in Afghanistan, an organisation dedicated to raising awareness of the plight of Afghans worldwide. Nasimi was born in Parwan Province before growing up Pul-e Khomri, Afghanistan. He was awarded an MA in law and PhD in Political Science from Mechnikov National University but this education and his time in the former USSR made him and his family a target for Taliban persecution. Shabnam Nasimi
Shabnam Nasimi ( fa, شبنم نسیمی) (born 16 February 1991) is an Afghan-born British social activist, commentator, and political figure. She was formerly policy advisor to Minister for Afghan Resettlement Victoria Atkins MP and Minister for Refugees Richard Harrington. A member of the Conservative Party, Nasimi was a candidate in the 2021 local elections. Early life and education Nasimi's family came to the UK from Afghanistan, after fleeing the Taliban regime in 1999. Her father Nooralhaq Nasimi had gained his PhD in Law in the former Soviet Union and her mother Mahboba completed her Masters in Jurisprudence; they prized education above all else. Citizens Advice Bureaus Outside Of The United Kingdom
Organisations based on the British Citizens Advice charity exist in a number of jurisdictions outside the United Kingdom. Although none of these organisations is controlled by the British charity, they adopt the branding and identity of Citizens Advice to varying degrees. Afghan Refugees
Afghan refugees are citizens of Afghanistan who were compelled to abandon their country as a result of major wars, persecution, torture or genocide. The 1978 Saur Revolution followed by the 1979 Soviet invasion marked the first wave of internal displacement and international migration from Afghanistan to neighboring Iran and Pakistan; smaller numbers also went to India or to the former Soviet Union. Between 1979 and 1992, more than 20% of Afghanistan's population fled the country as refugees. When the Soviet forces left Afghanistan in 1989, many began returning to their homeland. They again migrated to neighboring countries during and after the Afghan Civil War (1992–1996) but between 2002 and 2022 most have returned to Afghanistan. The 2023 New Year Honours are appointments by some of the 15 Commonwealth realms to various orders and honours to recognise and reward good works by citizens of those countries. Rabia Nasimi (; born 15 December 1993) is a former refugee who fled Afghanistan with her parents and siblings in 1999 and now campaigns for refugee rights in London. Early life and education Nasimi and her family fled Afghanistan in 1999 out of fear of persecution at the hands of the Taliban. After a journey of more than 3, 000 miles, they arrived in the UK in the back of a refrigerated container and in 2001 the family established the Afghanistan and Central Asian Association (ACAA), a charity dedicated to improving the lives of Afghans and all refugees in London.
