Nonstop (band)
Nonstop was a Portuguese girl band, created out of the TV reality-competition show ''Popstars'', in 2001. Nonstop have achieved notable success with their first album, ''Nonstop'', and especially with their first hit single, "Ao Limite Eu Vou". Songwriter and producer Eliot Kennedy - who had previously worked with bands such as Spice Girls and Take That - once said "they are probably the best group I have worked with. Their voices are so good!" Formation In 2001 the dream catcher reality-show ''Popstars'' was launched in Portugal by the television station SIC with the aim of creating a five-piece girl band. Over twelve hundred girls attended auditions held in Porto, the Algarve and Lisbon, hoping for a place in the group. Sabrina (Portuguese Artist)
Maria Teresa Villa-Lobos (born 30 March 1982), known professionally as Sabrina, is a Portuguese singer from Setúbal. She represented her country and national broadcaster Rádio e Televisão de Portugal, RTP at the Eurovision Song Contest 2007, in Helsinki, Finland, after winning the Festival da Canção, the national selection. Due to Portugal's non-qualification to the final, in 2006, Sabrina performed in the semi-final, finishing 11th thus failing to qualify. Barbara Dex Award
The Barbara Dex Award was a fan-voted accolade awarded annually to the worst-dressed contestant in the Eurovision Song Contest. The award was created by the fansite The House of Eurovision in 1997, which hosted it until the site's closure in 2016. Songfestival.be presented the Barbara Dex Award from 2017 onwards, changing its criterion to the "most striking look" in 2019. The Eurovision Song Contest 2006 was the 51st edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Athens, Greece, following the country's victory at the with the song "My Number One" by Helena Paparizou. Boney M. was a German- Caribbean vocal group that specialized in disco and funk created by German record producer Frank Farian, who was the group's primary songwriter. Originally based in West Germany, the four original members of the group's official line-up were Liz Mitchell and Marcia Barrett from Jamaica, Maizie Williams from Montserrat, and Bobby Farrell from Aruba. MTV Portugal
MTV is a Portuguese pay television channel that was launched on 1 July 2003, replacing MTV Europe in Portugal. A high-definition simulcast feed of the channel launched on 17 June 2015. In its initial stages MTV Portugal shared similar content to MTV Spain and MTV Italy, while also airing programming from MTV US and MTV Europe. There was a strong focus on music content but gradually the channel began to air reality shows similar to other MTV channels. The channel was launched in Portugal with the support of private broadcaster SIC as it previously had a MTV branded block in the early 1990s. Lady Marmalade
"Lady Marmalade" is a song written by Bob Crewe and Kenny Nolan, originally for Nolan's disco group. The song is famous for the repeated refrain of " ''Voulez-vous coucher avec moi''?" in French as part of the chorus, a sexually suggestive line that translates into English as: "Do you want to sleep with me?"
