Nonie Darwish ( ar, نوني درويش; born Nahid Darwish, 1949) is an Egyptian-American writer, founder of ''Arabs for Israel'' movement, and is Director of Former Muslims United. Darwish is an outspoken critic of Islam. The Southern Poverty Law Center has described her as an anti-Arab and anti-Muslim activist. Born in Egypt, Darwish is the daughter of an Egyptian Army lieutenant general, who was called a "shahid" by the Egyptian president Gamal Abdel Nasser, after being killed in a targeted killing by the Israel Defense Forces in 1956. Darwish blames "the Middle Eastern Islamic culture and the propaganda of hatred taught to children from birth" for his death. In 1978, she moved with her husband to the United States, and converted to Christianity there. In the aftermath of the 11 September 2001 attacks, she has written on Islam-related topics. Nonie Lynch (''née'' Crawford; 5 February 1910 – 29 September 2011) was an Irish traditional singer from Milltown Malbay, County Clare. Lynch took part in several editions of The Clare Festival of Traditional Singing, including the first edition to be held outside Ennistymon, which took place in Spanish Point in 2003. At the time of that festival she was already 93 years of age. Most of her life she was living in the townland Mountscott, Mullagh. The last few years of her life were spent in a nursing home in Liscannor.
