''Non ti pago!'' is a 1942 Italian comedy film directed by Carlo Ludovico Bragaglia, who also adapted the play by Eduardo De Filippo, the star of the film. Carlo Ludovico Bragaglia
Carlo Ludovico Bragaglia (8 July 1894 – 4 January 1998) was an Italian film director whose career spanned from the 1930s to the mid-1960s. He mainly directed adventure pictures and popular comedies, including some starring Totò. His 1942 film ''Non ti pago!'' was shown as part of a retrospective on Italian comedy at the 67th Venice International Film Festival. Biography Bragaglia was born in Frosinone, Latium, and was a veteran of World War I. He was wounded in action, and subsequently received a medal. Upon his discharge, Bragaglia and his brother Arturo began to experiment with photography. He later connected with Anton Giulio, another brother, to found the Casa d'arte Bragaglio. The establishment quickly became a popular attraction for Rome artists. Bragaglio then founded an independent theater and launched his theatrical career. Lina Marengo (19 January 1911 – 6 February 1987) was an Italian character actress. She played in over 30 films, and was most active between 1938 and 1943. Biography Marengo was born in Rome and her film debut was in '' Casta Diva'' (1935), directed by Carmine Gallone. Characterized by a slightly hoarse voice, she was mainly active in humorous roles, and was often typecast as a spinster or a gossiping woman. She played Serafina in '' Domani è troppo tardi'' (1950), directed by Léonide Moguy, and starring Vittorio De Sica, Lois Maxwell, Gabrielle Dorziat, and Pier Angeli. The film won Best Italian Film at the Venice Film Festival. She was in four films directed by De Sica, including ''Teresa Venerdì'' (1941). Rosita Pisano
Rosa Pisano (15 October 1919 – 24 December 1975) was an Italian stage, film and television actress. Life and career Pisano was born in Naples, into a family of dialect theatre actors. She debuted on stage as a child actress in her family company, and later entered the stage company of Eduardo and Peppino De Filippo. After the war and after the dissolution of the company she continued working with Eduardo De Filippo, and starting from the 1950s with other companies, notably the one held by Nino Taranto. Dolores Palumbo (14 June 1912 – 30 January 1984) was an Italian stage and film actress. Life and career Born in Naples, the daughter of two stage actors, Palumbo debuted in 1930 with a bit role in the farce ''La bella trovata''. Shorty later she entered the stage company of Nino Taranto, with whom she starred in a number of successful revues. In 1945 she joined the stage company of Eduardo De Filippo and she was critically appreciated for her performance in the comedy play '' Napoli milionaria''. Two years later she rejoined the company of Nino Taranto until the 1950s, then, in 1955, she worked again with Eduardo De Filippo, who called her in his company to replace his sister Titina.
