Non-explosive Reactive Armour
Non-explosive reactive armor (NxRA), also known as non-energetic reactive armor (NERA), is a type of vehicle armor used by modern main battle tanks and heavy infantry fighting vehicles. NERA advantages over the explosive reactive armor (ERA) are that they are inexpensive, completely passive and thus easy to integrate on armored vehicles. Operating mechanism NERA operating principle relies on the speed deviation of a shock wave propagating in different materials. When a projectile such as a shaped-charge jet hits the front metal plate, this generates a shock wave that will travel at high speed inside the metallic layer and then encounters a confined non-metallic material with elastic properties. Due to the lower propagation velocity of the non-metallic material, the shock wave diffracts and causes a brutal acceleration of the metallic back plate whose deformation is hard enough to cause lateral interferences that destabilize and shear the shaped-charge jet and consume it. A main battle tank (MBT), also known as a battle tank or universal tank, is a tank that fills the role of armor-protected direct fire and maneuver in many modern armies. Cold War-era development of more powerful engines, better suspension systems and lighter-weight composite armor allowed the design of a tank that had the firepower of a super-heavy tank, the armor protection of a heavy tank, and the mobility of a light tank, in a package with the weight of a medium tank. Shaped Charge
A shaped charge is an explosive charge shaped to form an explosively formed penetrator (EFP) to focus the effect of the explosive's energy. Different types of shaped charges are used for various purposes such as cutting and forming metal, initiating nuclear weapons, penetrating armor, or perforating wells in the oil and gas industry. A typical modern shaped charge, with a metal liner on the charge cavity, can penetrate armor steel to a depth of seven or more times the diameter of the charge (charge diameters, CD), though greater depths of 10 CD and above have been achieved. Atelier De Construction De Puteaux
The Atelier de Construction de Puteaux (APX) (English translation: "Puteaux Construction Workshops") was a state arsenal belonging to the French Army. It was located at 8, quai national in Puteaux. History Atelier de Construction de Puteaux was in charge of making ammunition and carrying out tests. The factories also produced small and medium-sized equipment (firearms and knives), while the so-called “manufacturing” workshops produced larger equipment ( artillery pieces). Slat Armor
Slat armor (or slat armour in British English), also known as bar armor, cage armor, and standoff armor, is a type of vehicle armor designed to protect against high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT) attacks, as used by anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs) and rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs). Operation Slat armor takes the form of a rigid slatted metal grid fitted around key sections of the vehicle, which disrupts the shaped charge of the warhead by either crushing it, preventing optimal detonation from occurring, or by damaging the fuzing mechanism, preventing detonation outright.
