Nollamara was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia. The district is based in the north-eastern suburbs of Perth. It includes the suburbs of Nollamara, Alexander Heights, Koondoola, Mirrabooka, Westminster and part of the suburb of Dianella. Politically, Nollamara is a safe Labor seat. Based on the results of the 2005 state election, the electorate was created with a Labor Party majority of 69.3% to 30.7% versus the Liberal Party. Wanneroo Road
Wanneroo Road is a arterial highway in the northern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia linking Joondanna and Yokine in the south with Wanneroo and Yanchep in the north. As part of State Route 60, it begins from Charles Street in the inner city and becomes Indian Ocean Drive up to Dongara. Originally a narrow and often country road with a single lane in each direction it has been periodically widened and (particularly north of Wanneroo) straightened. Around the Carabooda area the road has been realigned. Short sections of the original, narrow road remain providing access to properties and businesses along the road. The City of Stirling is a local government area in the northern suburbs of the Western Australian capital city of Perth about north of Perth's central business district. The City covers an area of and has a population of over 223,000, making it the largest local government area by population in Western Australia. Mirrabooka is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. Its local government area is the City of Stirling. Mirrabooka is an Aboriginal name for the constellation most commonly known as the Southern Cross. It is a primarily middle-class suburb made up of mainly Italian, Greek and Macedonian families, as well as many families from other European countries. Dianella was named after the botanical title of a small blue lily, '' Dianella revoluta'', a narrow-leafed plant that was plentiful in the area prior to residential development. Yokine is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. Its local government area is the City of Stirling. History The name Yokine was derived from a Nyungar language word meaning " dingo" (which early settlers referred to as the "native dog"). The name was chosen because the area is close to Dog Swamp. ''Macropidia fuliginosa'', the sole species of genus ''Macropidia'', is a perennial rhizomatous flowering plant. A relation of the kangaroo paws, ''Anigozanthus'', which are also endemic to Southwest Australia, it is referred to as the black kangaroo paw. Bearing unusual black and green flowers, it occurs on a coastal plain from Perth to Geraldton. Taxonomy A species of the Haemodoraceae family, once allied to the kangaroo paws ''Anigozanthus'', but recognised as a separate and monotypic sister genus named ''Macropidia''.
