Charles Nolin (2 March 1838 – 28 January 1907) was a Métis farmer and political organizer noted for his role in the opposition of the North-West Resistance of 1885. He was educated by the bishop Provencher, then worked as a fur trader and a merchant. Jean-Baptiste Nolin
Jean-Baptiste Nolin (–1708) was a French cartographer and engraver. Life and career Jean-Baptiste Nolin was born . He trained with the engraver François de Poilly, which caught the attention of the Italian cartographer Vincenzo Coronelli, who invited him to engrave his own maps. In 1694 Nolin was named geographer to the Duke of Orléans ( Philippe II), and in 1701 he was named engraver to the king (Louis XIV). Nolin set up a family publishing house on Rue Saint-Jacques, Paris, which was initially unsuccessful until it was moved nearer to other geographers on Quai de l'Horloge. Many of Nolin's maps were based on previous works by Coronelli and the amateur geographer Jean-Nicholas de Tralage, known as Sieur de Tillemon, who supplied him with most of his material. Joseph Nolin
Joseph Octave Nolin (1868 – December 1925) was a Canadian provincial politician and one of Saskatchewan's first Metis MLAs. He was the Liberal member of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan for the constituencies of Île-à-la-Crosse and Athabasca, the latter only existing from 1908 to 1917—making Nolin the only representative of the former electoral district. Marie-Paule Nolin (née Archambault; 1908 in Saint-Hyacinthe – 1987 in Montreal) was a French Canadian high-fashion designer who lived and worked in the province of Quebec, Canada. Marie-Paule Archambault started out as a vendeuse for Raoul-Jean Fouré who had launched his fashion house in Montreal in about 1927. At the age of 26 she launched a dressmaking business on what would become the De Maisonneuve Boulevard. She received publicity early on through her participation in a charity fashion show at the Windsor Hotel, and after a trip to Paris where she visited several fashion salons, she came back to launch her own fashion salon at 648 Sherbrooke Street West, Montreal in 1936. Pierre Claude Nolin (October 30, 1950 – April 23, 2015) was a Canadian politician and Senator. A prominent member of Conservative Party of Canada from 2004 till his death, he became an influential strongman in the Party's parliamentary caucus. Appointed to the Canadian senate on recommendation of Brian Mulroney on 1993, he was designated as speaker pro tempore in 2013 before being promoted to the office of Speaker of the Senate in November 2014. Nolin, Oregon
Nolin is an unincorporated community in Umatilla County, Oregon, United States. Nolin is about southeast of Echo, next to the Umatilla River. At one time the area was known as "Happy Canyon". Adam "Ad" W. Nye, a settler of the 1860s, named the Nolin area Happy Canyon, for the spirit of the people who lived there. The name was later adopted by Pendleton Round-Up for its indoor show in commemoration of this time. Nye was County Sheriff in 1872–74. The nearby community of Nye was named for him. At one time Nolin had a post office, a store, and a school. Nolin also has a cemetery. An Oregon Railway and Navigation Company (now Union Pacific) railroad line was built through Nolin, crossing the Umatilla River on a steel bridge constructed in 1907.
