	Asa Fitch Asa Fitch (February 24, 1809 – April 8, 1879) was a natural historian and entomologist from Salem, New York. His early studies were of both natural history and medicine, which he studied at the newly formed Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, graduating in 1827. However, in 1838 he decided to start studying agriculture and entomology. In 1838 he began to collect and study insects for New York state. In 1854 he became the first professional entomologist of New York State Agricultural Society (commissioned by the State of New York). This made him the first occupational entomologist in the United States. His vast studies of many insects helped scientists to solve some of the problems of crop damage caused by insects. Many of his notebooks are now the property of the Smithsonian Institution. Fitch also discovered the rodent botfly ''Cuterebra emasculator'' in 1856. He died April 8, 1879, in Salem, New York. 	Nolidae Nolidae is a family of moths with about 1,700 described species worldwide. They are mostly small with dull coloration, the main distinguishing feature being a silk cocoon with a vertical exit slit. The group is sometimes known as tuft moths, after the tufts of raised scales on the forewings of two subfamilies, Nolinae and Collomeninae. The larvae also tend to have muted colors and tufts of short hairs. Formerly, this group was included in the Noctuidae. 	Nola (moth) ''Nola'' is a genus of moths described by William Elford Leach in 1815. They are the namesake of the subfamily Nolinae and the Family (biology), family Nolidae. This genus occurs worldwide wherever suitable habitat is present. Description Palpi porrect (extending forward), moderately long with thick scales. Antennae fasciculated in male. Mid tibia with single spur pair, whereas hind tibia with two pairs. Forewings with vein 5 from angle of cell, vein 6 from upper angle, veins 7 and 8 stalked and veins 8 and 10 absent. Hindwing with vein 3 from before angle of cell, vein 5 absent, veins 6 and 7 stalked and vein 8 from middle of cell.
