Aaron Frey
Aaron M. Frey (born c. 1978) is an American lawyer and politician serving as the 58th Attorney General of Maine since 2019. He formerly served as a Democratic representative in the Maine House of Representatives. He is currently being investigated by his own party for a sexual relationship with a married direct subordinate as well as his handling of disclosure. Early life and career Frey was born and raised in Dixmont, Maine. He is the son of Michael Frey and Cynthia Bean-Frey. Frey attended Saint Anselm College, where he served as student body president. Joshua "Josh" Abraham Tardy (born 1968) is an American politician and attorney from Maine. A Republican, Tardy served in the Maine House of Representatives from the 125th and 25th districts from 2002 to 2010, including two terms (four years) as Minority Leader (2006-2010). Dixmont, Maine
Dixmont is a town in Penobscot County, Maine, United States. The population was 1,211 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Bangor Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Dixmont was originally granted by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (of which Maine was then a part) to Bowdoin College, which sold the first settlers their land. For that reason it was initially called "Collegetown". The first settlement was made in 1799. One of the largest purchasers of land in Collegetown was Dr. Elijah Dix of Boston, who never lived there but took an interest in its settlement. When the town was incorporated in 1807, it named itself after Dix. A "malignant fever" broke out among the settlers that same year, killing many of them. Still, the population grew in the decade 1800–1810 from 59 to 337, a rate of increase never repeated. Newport, Maine
Newport is a town in Penobscot County, Maine, United States. The population was 3,133 at the 2020 census. The town's borders surround the shoreline of Sebasticook Lake. History The town was settled about 1808 as East Pond Plantation, then incorporated on June 14, 1814, as Newport. Agriculture was a principal early occupation, and industries included several sawmills, a gristmill, a foundry, cabinet shop, and a number of harness and blacksmith shops. Hartland, Maine
Hartland is a town in Somerset County, Maine, United States. The population was 1,705 at the 2020 census. History The area was first settled in approximately 1800, and was incorporated as Warrentown or Warrenton on February 17, 1820. It was the last town in Maine to be incorporated by the Massachusetts General Court before the Missouri Compromise which led to the birth of the state of Maine, three weeks later. The area did not gain a library collection until 1903 when materials started being housed in the town hall. From 1935 to 1990 the library collection could be found on Commercial St in a building that now houses the Irving Tannery Outlet. In 1991 the library moved to its current location.
