Noel Coonan
Noel Coonan (born 6 January 1951) is a former Irish Fine Gael politician who served as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Tipperary North (Dáil constituency), Tipperary North constituency from 2007 to 2016. He was a Seanad Éireann, Senator for the Cultural and Educational Panel from 2002 to 2007. He was elected at the 2007 Irish general election, 2007 general election to Dáil Éireann as a Fine Gael Teachta Dála, TD for Tipperary North. He had been a member of the 22nd Seanad Éireann in 2002 as a Senator for the Cultural and Educational Panel. A former member of North Tipperary County Council and Templemore Town Council, he was an unsuccessful candidate for Dáil Éireann in the Tipperary North constituency at the 2002 Irish general election, 2002 general election. A Teachta Dála ( , ; plural ), abbreviated as TD (plural ''TDanna'' in Irish, TDs in English), is a member of Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Oireachtas (the Irish Parliament). It is the equivalent of terms such as ''Member of Parliament'' (MP) or '' Member of Congress'' used in other countries. The official translation of the term is "Deputy to the Dáil", although a more literal translation is "Assembly Delegate". Overview For electoral purposes, the Republic of Ireland is divided into areas known as constituencies, each of which elects three, four, or five TDs. The Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) is the agricultural policy of the European Union. It implements a system of agricultural subsidies and other programmes. It was introduced in 1962 and has since then undergone several changes to reduce the EEC budget cost (from 73% in 1985 to 37% in 2017) and consider rural development in its aims. This is a list of members who were elected to the 31st Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Oireachtas (legislature) of Ireland. These TDs (Members of Parliament) were elected at the 2011 general election on 25 February 2011. On the advice of President Mary McAleese, the newly elected Dáil Éireann convened at midday on 9 March 2011 in Leinster House. It was dissolved by President Michael D. Fianna Fáil (, ; meaning 'Soldiers of Destiny' or 'Warriors of Fál'), officially Fianna Fáil – The Republican Party ( ga, audio=ga-Fianna Fáil.ogg, Fianna Fáil – An Páirtí Poblachtánach), is a conservative and Christian-democratic political party in Ireland. Michael Smith (born 8 November 1940) is an Irish former Fianna Fáil politician who served as Minister for Defence from 1997 to 2004, Minister for Education from November 1994 to December 1994, Minister for the Environment from 1992 to 1994 and a Minister of State in various governments.
