Noel-Baker Community School
Noel-Baker Academy (formerly Noel-Baker Community School) is a co-educational secondary school located in Alvaston, Derby, England. The school takes students from the Alvaston, Boulton and Crewton areas of Derby. In September 2004, the school was awarded specialist school status as a Language College by the Department for Education and Skills (DfES). Previously a foundation school administered by Derby City Council, in February 2017, Noel-Baker Community School converted to academy status and was renamed Noel-Baker Academy. The school is now sponsored by the LEAD Multi-Academy Trust. The school was named after Olympic silver medallist, Derby South MP and Nobel Peace prize winner, Philip Noel-Baker. Academy (English School)
An academy school in England is a state-funded school which is directly funded by the Department for Education and independent of local authority control. The terms of the arrangements are set out in individual Academy Funding Agreements. Most academies are secondary schools, though slightly more than 25% of primary schools (4,363 as of December 2017) are academies. Academies are self-governing non-profit charitable trusts and may receive additional support from personal or corporate sponsors, either financially or in kind. Foundation School
In England and Wales, a foundation school is a state-funded school in which the governing body has greater freedom in the running of the school than in community schools. Foundation schools were set up under the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 to replace grant-maintained schools, which were funded directly by central government. Grant-maintained schools that had previously been voluntary controlled or county schools (but not voluntary aided) usually became foundation schools. Foundation schools are a kind of "maintained school", meaning that they are funded by central government via the local education authority, and do not charge fees to students. Jordon James Edward Sydney Mutch (born 2 December 1991) is an English professional footballer who most recently played as a central midfielder for Australian A-League club Macarthur FC. Christopher Aiden-Lee Jackson (born 1977) is a British geoscientist, science communicator and Director of Sustainable Geoscience at Jacobs Engineering Group. He was previously Professor of Sustainable Geoscience at the University of Manchester, and before that held the Equinor Chair of Basin Analysis at Imperial College, London. Derby City Council is the local government unitary authority for Derby, a city in the East Midlands region of England. It comprises 51 councillors, three for each of the 17 electoral wards of Derby.
