Nobody Home (film)
''Nobody Home'' is a 1919 American silent comedy film starring Dorothy Gish and Ralph Graves. "Rudolph Valentine" (a pre-stardom Rudolph Valentino) had an early role. Its working title was ''Out of Luck''. This is now considered to be a lost film. Plot As described in a film magazine, Frances Wadsworth (Gish) is a very superstitious young woman who implicitly believes in fortunes told by cards. She discovers through the cards that her friend Mollie Rourke (McGinnis) is doomed to marry. Although Mollie's father objects, Frances aids Mollie in her elopement, and at the ceremony meets a blonde young man. As her cards have told her that a blonde man would enter her life, she accepts her new acquaintance as the gift of fate. Maurice Rennard (Valentino), an adventurer, makes up his mind to marry the money attached to Frances and, after consulting her cards and finding that a dark man would cross her path, Frances submits. Elmer Clifton
Elmer Clifton (March 14, 1890 – October 15, 1949) was an American writer, director and actor from the early silent days. A collaborator of D.W. Griffith, he appeared in ''The Birth of a Nation'' (1915) and ''Intolerance'' (1916) before giving up acting in 1917 to concentrate on work behind the camera, with Griffith and Joseph Henabery as his mentors. His first feature-length solo effort as a director was ''The Flame of Youth'' with Jack Mulhall. Clifton honed his talents during the late 1910s, directing vehicles for Mulhall and Herbert Rawlinson at Universal and then for Dorothy Gish for Famous Players-Lasky. Two of his projects with Gish, '' Nobody Home'' and ''Nugget Nell'', featured performances from pre-stardom Rudolph Valentino. Most of this early output has been lost. He was the first filmmaker to discover the talents of Clara Bow, whom he cast in '' Down to the Sea in Ships'', released on March 4, 1923. Raymond Cannon (actor)
Raymond Cannon (born Ulises Tildmann Cannon; September 1, 1892 – June 7, 1977) was an American actor, film director, screenwriter, journalist, and author known for his work with D. W. Griffith and Buster Keaton. Background Ulises Tillman Cannon was born September 1, 1892 in Long Hollow, Tennessee to Newton Cannon and Sarah Lincoln Bolinger. In 1910 he was working at a soda fountain in Knoxville, but after leaving divinity school, he moved west, performing in vaudeville and working as a journalist in Dallas and Fort Worth. In April 1918, Cannon became a journalist for Elmer M. Robbins' weekly magazine ''Camera! The Digest of the Motion Picture Industry''. E.M. Robbins died in 1920 and Cannon bought the magazine in 1921, co-publishing it with Lola B Robbins until he sold his interest in 1922.
