Patrick Joseph "Nobby" Clark (June 18, 1897 – August 5, 1966) was a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman, most notably for the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League, for whom he played five games in the 1927–28 season. Defenceman
Defence or defense (in American English) in ice hockey is a player position that is primarily responsible for preventing the opposing team from Goal (ice hockey), scoring. They are often referred to as defencemen, D, D-men or blueliners (the latter a reference to the blue line in ice hockey which represents the boundary of the offensive zone; defencemen generally position themselves along the line to keep the puck in the zone). They were once called cover-point. In regular play, two defencemen complement three Forward (ice hockey), forwards and a goaltender on the ice. Hibbing Maroons
The Hibbing Maroons were a semi-professional ice hockey team in Hibbing, Minnesota. They were a member of the Central Hockey League for three seasons and were disbanded in 1934. History The Maroons were one of the founding members of the Central Hockey League, starting as an amateur team in 1931 at the height of the Great Depression. After a decent first season, the team changed to semi-professional status, in keeping with the rest of the league, in 1932. Hibbing finished last in their second season and then rebranded as the 'Hibbing Miners' for year three. The club recovered mightily that year, posting their first winning season while averaging just under 3 goals per game. Unfortunately, mid-way through the season the team's home rink was destroyed by a fire. The Miners managed to pay out the remainder of their schedule but, without a home venue, the team folded after the season. Philadelphia Arrows
The Philadelphia Arrows were a professional ice hockey team that played in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1927, the club was Philadelphia's first professional hockey team and played in the Canadian-American Hockey League. The team changed its name to the Philadelphia Ramblers beginning with the 1935–36 season when it became affiliated with the National Hockey League's New York Rangers. The following season the Ramblers and the C-AHL began playing an interlocking schedule with the International Hockey League for two seasons before the two circuits formally merged to form a new International American Hockey League (renamed the American Hockey League in 1940) in June 1938. Canadian Americans is a term that can be applied to American citizens whose ancestry is wholly or partly Canadian, or citizens of either country that hold dual citizenship. New Haven Eagles
The New Haven Eagles were a professional ice hockey team that played in New Haven, Connecticut. The Eagles were one of five inaugural franchises in the Canadian American Hockey League, and a founding member of the American Hockey League. The 1927–28 NHL season was the 11th season of the National Hockey League. Ten teams played 44 games each. The New York Rangers won the Stanley Cup beating the Montreal Maroons, becoming the first NHL team based in United States to win it. League business The O'Brien Cup, which used to go to the National Hockey Association (NHA), later the NHL league champion, would now go to the winner of the Canadian Division. The Prince of Wales Trophy, first awarded to the winner of the first game at Madison Square Garden, and later the NHL league champion, would now go to the winner of the American division.
