Noarlunga Downs is a metropolitan suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. It lies within the City of Onkaparinga and has postcode 5168. The suburb is the home of Hickinbotham Oval, the home ground of the South Adelaide Football Club who play in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). The oval was officially opened as Noarlunga Oval in 1995. It has a spectator capacity of 12,000 and includes television standard lights for night games. City Of Onkaparinga
The City of Onkaparinga () is a local government area (LGA) located on the southern fringe of Adelaide, South Australia. It is named after the Onkaparinga River, whose name comes from ''Ngangkiparinga'', a Kaurna word meaning women's river. It is the largest LGA in South Australia, with a population of over 170,000 people in both urban and rural communities and is also geographically expansive, encompassing an area of 518.3 km². Old Noarlunga, South Australia
Old Noarlunga (formerly Noarlunga) is a suburb in the Australian state of South Australia located about south of the state capital of Adelaide. Originally settled around 1840, the town retains its village atmosphere in spite of encroaching suburbia. Etymology Contemporary Australian linguists believe the name 'Noarlunga' is derived from the Kaurna ''nurlo'' (corner/curve/bend) + ''ngga'' (place). Hickinbotham Oval
Hickinbotham Oval (currently known as Flinders University Stadium due to naming rights, and originally Noarlunga Oval) is an Australian rules football stadium in Noarlunga Downs, an outer-southern suburb of Adelaide. It has been the home of South Australian National Football League (SANFL) club South Adelaide Football Club (also known as "The Panthers") since 1995. In 2018 the ground was re-named Flinders University Stadium, as part of a five-year sponsorship deal with Flinders University. After 111 years (in two stints, 1882-1903 and 1904-1994) of playing their home games at the Adelaide Oval, (which is located on the northern side of the Adelaide city centre and the Torrens River), the club decided to move to the southern suburb of Noarlunga in the early 1990s. Hackham West, South Australia
Hackham West is an outer southern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. It is located in the City of Onkaparinga. History The suburb has existed for about thirty years. Prior to this, the area was rural with vineyards and farms. On 4 January 1983 10-year-old Louise Bell, disappeared from her bedroom in Hackham West. On 11 November 2016, 68-year-old Dieter Pfennig was found guilty of murdering her. He was already serving a life sentence for murdering a boy in 1989 and the abduction and rape of another boy.
