The film won the Golden Prize at the 5th Moscow International Film Festival in 1967. Armando Robles Godoy
Armando Robles Godoy (February 7, 1923 – August 10, 2010) was a Peruvian film director. He was son of the Peruvian composer Daniel AlomÃa Robles and Carmela Godoy. His 1967 film '' En la selva no hay estrellas'' won the Golden Prize at the 5th Moscow International Film Festival in 1967. In 1971 he was a member of the jury at the 7th Moscow International Film Festival. Director of ''Espejismo'', so far the only Peruvian film to have been nominated to a Golden Globe award. List Of Submissions To The 40th Academy Awards For Best Foreign Language Film
This is a list of submissions to the 40th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film was created in 1956 by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to honour non-English-speaking films produced outside the United States. The award is handed out annually, and is accepted by the winning film's director, although it is considered an award for the submitting country as a whole. Countries are invited by the Academy to submit their best films for competition according to strict rules, with only one film being accepted from each country. For the 40th Academy Awards, sixteen films were submitted in the category Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Belgium and Peru submitted films to the competition for the first time. Peru has submitted films for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film since 1967, when it became the fourth Western Hemisphere country to enter the Oscar Foreign Film race, after Mexico, Brazil and Argentina.
