"No Matter How High" is a song written by Even Stevens and Joey Scarbury, and recorded by American country music group The Oak Ridge Boys. It was released in December 1989 as the second single from the album '' American Dreams''. The song was The Oak Ridge Boys' seventeenth and final number one on the country chart. The single went to number one for one week and spent a total of twenty-one weeks on the country chart. Music video The music video, directed by Larry Boothby, features each of the Oaks in their hometowns, each visiting with their respective mothers. The original intent was to have the group sing the song to their mothers in the video, however, Duane Allen's mother was ill at the time, so Boothby decided to incorporate their hometowns, thus avoiding any lengthy or strenuous travel. William Lee Golden
William Lee Golden (born January 12, 1939) is an American country music singer. Between 1965 and 1987, and again since December 1995, he has been the baritone singer in the country vocal group The Oak Ridge Boys. Career Golden joined The Oak Ridge Boys (then a Southern gospel music group) in 1965. Golden is widely known for his waist-length beard and hair, and has become one of the most recognizable faces in the entertainment industry. Golden was voted out of The Oak Ridge Boys in 1987, as the other three members wanted to change the band's image. He was replaced by Steve Sanders, but stayed with MCA Records as a solo artist to record an album titled ''American Vagabond'', which included two chart singles. Steve Sanders (September 17, 1952 – June 10, 1998) was an American musician, singer, and songwriter. After playing rhythm guitar in the Oaks Band, Sanders was asked to replace William Lee Golden, the baritone in The Oak Ridge Boys, who had left the group in 1987. Career Sanders began singing gospel music at the age of 5. By the age of 6, he was the sole support for his family. His father played piano, and "Little Stevie" would sing, mostly at church appearances. Although he lacked formal education — Sanders did not graduate from high school—he was a natural on stage. In addition to appearing on Broadway in ''The Yearling'' at the age of 12, he was recruited by Otto Preminger in 1967 for the film ''Hurry Sundown'' with Faye Dunaway and Jane Fonda. ''It's Only Natural'' is the thirty-first studio album released by the country music vocal group The Oak Ridge Boys. It was released September 19, 2011 by the music publishing division of the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store restaurant chain. The album contains five new songs and newly re-recorded versions of six older Oak Ridge Boys songs. Also included is a re-recording of "Louisiana Red Dirt Highway", which William Lee Golden originally released in 1990 during his hiatus from the group. Critical reception Giving it three stars out of five, Billy Dukes of ''Taste of Country'' thought that some of the songs were "sleepy" but praised "What'cha Gonna Do?" and "The Shade".
