No Fear, No Die
''No Fear, No Die'' (french: S'en fout la mort) is a 1990 drama film directed by Claire Denis and written by Denis in collaboration with Jean-Pol Fargeau. It features Isaach De Bankolé, Alex Descas and Solveig Dommartin. Plot Two young men, Dah ( Isaach De Bankolé) from Benin and Jocelyn (Alex Descas) from the Caribbean decide to work together as a team that organizes illegal cockfights in order to gain quick cash. Dah is responsible for the financial transactions while Jocelyn trains the animals. Jocelyn has a special attachment to one of the champion roosters he has named No Fear, No Die. No Fear, No Die, like all roosters, is eventually defeated causing Jocelyn to begin to lose interest in cockfighting. Dah and Jocelyn have a third partner, Pierre ( Jean Claude Brialy) who owns the space where the cockfights take place. Claire Denis (; born 21 April 1946) is a French film director and screenwriter. Her feature film ''Beau Travail'' (1999) has been called one of the greatest films of the 1990s, as well as of all time. Other acclaimed works include '' Trouble Every Day'' (2001), '' 35 Shots of Rum'' (2008), '' White Material'' (2009), '' High Life'' (2018) and '' Both Sides of the Blade'' (2022), the last of which won her the Silver Bear for Best Director at the Berlin International Film Festival. Jean-Claude Brialy (30 March 1933 – 30 May 2007) was a French actor and film director. Early life Brialy was born in Aumale (now Sour El-Ghozlane), French Algeria, where his father was stationed with the French Army. Brialy moved to mainland France with his family in 1942. He was an alumnus of the Prytanée National Militaire. When he was 21 years old, he went to Paris to work as an actor. Career In 1956, Brialy acted in his first role in the short film ''Le coup du berger'' (''Fool's Mate'') by Jacques Rivette.
