Greta was an American hard rock band formed in 1990 by Paul Plagens, Kyle Baer, Josh Gordon, and Brad Wilk. Wilk left the band in 1991 to join Rage Against the Machine, and was replaced on the drums by Scott Carneghi who went on to co-found the band Buffalocomotive in 2012. The band signed a two-record deal with Mercury Records Mercury Records is an American record label owned by Universal Music Group. It had significant success as an independent operation in the 1940s and 1950s. Smash Records and Fontana Records were sub labels of Mercury. Buffalocomotive is an American rock band formed in 2012, in Joliet, Illinois–a suburb of Chicago. The founding members, bassist/ lead vocalist/lyricist Brahm Taylor and guitarist/backing vocalist Marc Kaducak, have been collaborating musically since 1987. The duo has teamed with a number of percussionists including drummer Scott Carneghi who joined Taylor and Kaducak to form a power trio, even prior to the Buffalocomotive moniker, after completing the final leg of the 2003 Ozzfest Tour with Grade 8. Brad Wilk
Brad Wilk (born September 5, 1968) is an American drummer. He is best known as a member of the rock bands Rage Against the Machine (1991–2000, 2007–2011, 2019–present), Audioslave (2001–2007, 2017), and Prophets of Rage (2016–2019). Wilk started his career as a drummer for Greta in 1990, and helped co-found Rage Against the Machine with Tom Morello and Zack de la Rocha in August 1991. Following that band's breakup in October 2000, Wilk, Morello, Rage Against the Machine bassist Tim Commerford and Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell formed the supergroup Audioslave, which broke up in 2007. From 2016 to 2019, he played in the band Prophets of Rage, with Commerford, Morello, Chuck D, B-Real and DJ Lord. He currently plays in the band Rage Against the Machine following their reunion. Grade 8 (stylized as grade 8) was a four-piece nu metal band originating from New Jersey, U.S. History Formation and ''Grade 8'' (1996–2003) Grade 8's origins can be traced back to the East Coast, specifically the state of New Jersey. Guitarist Dustin Tooker played in a local band and, needing a last-minute replacement for the band's vocalist at a show, recruited his brother Ryan. This new lineup proved to be successful and was well received by the local music community, giving birth to Grade 8. The brothers continued to play shows in the New Jersey area over the next two years, with a constantly changing rhythm section. The name of the band stemmed from two meanings: the first referring to the grade 8 metal that is used for bolts that Dustin Tooker would use when working as a mechanic.
