Jack Harvey (actor And Director)
Jack Harvey (born John Joseph Harvey; September 16, 1881 – November 9, 1954) was an American film actor, director and screenwriter, noted for his short films of the silent period. Among his directed films are '' A Dog's Love'' (1914) (the first of many collaborations with Shep, a well-trained Collie of the Thanhouser Company), ''When Fate Rebelled'' (1915), '' Fairy Fern Seed'' (1915), '' Kaiser's Finish'' (1918) and his last film ''No Babies Wanted'' (1928), accredited as John J. Harvey. He continued to act, but most of his roles after the 1920s were very minor and uncredited in films such as ''Cardinal Richelieu'' (1935) and ''Anchors Aweigh'' (1945). He also continued to write for films until his death in 1954, the last of which was '' City Beneath the Sea'' (1953). Cissy Fitzgerald
Cissy Fitzgerald (born Mary Kate Kipping; 1 February 1873 – 10 May 1941) was an English-American vaudeville actress, dancer, and singer who appeared in numerous silent and sound films. Fitzgerald acted in a popular ''Gaiety Girl'' show beginning in 1894 and was filmed in the role in 1896 in a self-titled short film shot by Thomas Edison's film company. She did not appear in films again until 1914 where she signed with the Vitagraph company and was quite popular in feature films and her own series of ''Cissy'' short films. Very little of Fitzgerald's silent material survives except her comic backup role in the 1928 Lon Chaney vehicle ''Laugh, Clown, Laugh''. Fitzgerald claimed to have been the first woman in motion pictures, on 50 feet of film at the Edison labs in New Jersey in 1896. Emily Fitzroy (24 May 1860 – 3 March 1954) was an English theatre and film actress who eventually became an American citizen. She was at one time a leading lady in London for Sir Charles Wyndham. Dorothy Devore (born Alma Inez Williams; June 22, 1899 – September 10, 1976) was an American silent film actress and comedian. Early life Born as Alma Inez Williams in Fort Worth, Texas, on June 22, 1899, her family soon moved to Los Angeles when she was still a young girl and completed her education there. Career Before she began working in films, Devore sang at a cafe in Los Angeles. Devore joined a musical comedy company, with which she appeared for one year. She then went to Lyons and Moran comedies at Universal Pictures. At Universal she was "discovered" by director and producer Al Christie She began playing in small parts in films for Christie, but soon received leads and moved from one-reelers to two-reelers, which would make her a star.
