''No! No! A Thousand Times No!!'' is a 1935 Fleischer Studio animated short film, starring Betty Boop. This is the third of a series of Betty Boop melodrama spoofs, which also included ''She Wronged Him Right'' (1934), '' Betty Boop's Prize Show'' (1935) and '' Honest Love and True'' (1938). Synopsis Betty is performing on-stage with her boyfriend, Freddy, in an old-fashioned melodrama, complete with mustachioed villain. The vile fiend, after tying up the hero, tempts Betty with diamonds and fur, but she replies by singing the title song. The villain kidnaps Betty and escapes in his balloon, but is eventually caught by Freddy and forced to release Betty. Song The title song was written by Al Sherman, Al Lewis, Abner Silver in 1934, and sung by Mae Questel. The song was covered by Percival Mackey and his Orchestra featuring a vocal by Bobbie Comber in October of the same year. Dave Fleischer (; July 14, 1894 – June 25, 1979) was an American film director and producer, best known as a co-owner of Fleischer Studios with his older brother Max Fleischer. He was a native of New York City. Biography Fleischer was the youngest of five brothers and grew up in Brownsville, Brooklyn, a poor Jewish neighbourhood. By the time he was born, his father had lost his means of livelihood due to the mass production of garments. Fleischer worked as an usher at the Palace Theatre (New York City), Palace Theater on Broadway, where he was exposed to vaudeville. This experience contributed to the development of his sense for gags and comic timing, which came into play when he joined forces with his older brother, Max in the production of animated cartoons. Al Lewis (lyricist)
Al Lewis (April 18, 1901April 4, 1967) was an American lyricist, songwriter and music publisher. He is thought of mostly as a Tin Pan Alley era lyricist; however, he did write music on occasion as well. Professionally he was most active during the 1920s working into the 1950s. During this time, he most often collaborated with popular songwriters Al Sherman and Abner Silver. Among his most famous songs are "Blueberry Hill" and "You Gotta Be a Football Hero". Songwriters on Parade Between 1931 and 1934, during the last days of Vaudeville, Lewis and several other hitmakers of the day performed in a revue called " Songwriters on Parade", performing all across the Eastern seaboard on the Loew's and Keith circuits. Beatrice Kay (April 21, 1907– November 8, 1986) was an American singer, vaudevillian, music hall performer, and stage and film actress. Background Born in New York City as Hannah Beatrice Kuper, Kay performed as Honey Kuper and Honey Day for part of her career in vaudeville, radio, motion pictures, sound recordings, night clubs, and television. Her career began at the age of six as "Little Lord Fauntleroy" in stock theater in Louisville, Kentucky. She went on to become a headliner at Billy Rose's Diamond Horseshoe Nightclub in New York.
