Nkawkaw (Ghana Parliament Constituency)
The Nkawkaw constituency is in the Eastern region of Ghana. The current member of Parliament for the constituency is Hon Kwakye Daffour. He was elected on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party in the 2012 General election to win the constituency election to become the MP. He succeeded Seth Adjei Baah who had represented the constituency in the 4th Republican parliament on the ticket as an Independent candidate. Kwahu West Municipal District
Kwahu West Municipal District is one of the thirty-three districts in Eastern Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Kwahu South District in 1988, which was created from the former Kwahu District Council, until the southwest part of the district was split off to create Kwahu West District in August 2004; which it later was elevated to municipal district assembly status on 1 July 2007 (effectively 29 February 2008) to become Kwahu West Municipal District. The Eastern Region is located in south Ghana and is one of the sixteen administrative regions of Ghana. Eric Kwakye Darfour is a Ghanaian politician and a member of the New Patriotic Party in Ghana. He is the Eastern Regional minister of Ghana. He was appointed by President Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo in January 2017 and was approved by the Members of Parliament in February 2017. This is a list of the 275 constituencies represented in the Parliament of the Republic of Ghana, as at the December 2016 general election. It had been increased from 260 at the previous election in December 2012 parliamentary election. Each constituency is represented by a single member of parliament (MP). There were 230 parliamentary constituencies previously. History At the time Ghana became an independent country, there were 104 seats in parliament. This increased to 198 after 1965 when Ghana became a one party state. At the start of the Second Republic in 1969, the number of seats were increased to 140. This did not change further until the start of the Fourth republic when it was increased from 140 to 200. The number of seats was increased following the December 2000 elections.
