Haapajärvi became an independent parish in 1838. Nivala was split off from Haapajärvi as its own parish in 1876. Atte Petteri Ohtamaa (born 6 November 1987) is a Finnish professional ice hockey defenceman for Oulun Kärpät of the Liiga. Playing career Ohtamaa's youth team was Nivala Cowboys before he transferred to Oulun Kärpät at the Junior B level. On 27 August 2019, Ohtamaa joined HC Lugano of the National League (NL) on a two-month contract until 3 November 2019. He was brought in as their fifth import player in case of injuries. Ohtamaa played 17 games with Lugano (3 points) before being released on 2 November 2019. He was then loaned to Kazakh-based KHL club, Barys Nur-Sultan, for the remainder of the season. As a free agent on 1 May 2020, Ohtamaa opted to continue in the KHL, securing a one-year contract with Russian club Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. Ylivieska
Ylivieska () is a town and municipality of Northern Ostrobothnia region, Finland. It has a population of (), and it serves as the administrative centre for Kalajokilaakso and Pyhäjokilaakso, an area with a population of about 90,000 inhabitants. Ylivieska is also the commercial center of the Oulu South region, the southern part of the late Oulu province. The municipality is unilingually Finnish. The word ''Yli'' means "upper", while the word ''Vieska'' is supposed to mean a "shallow ford". Geography Ylivieska is located in Northern Ostrobothnia about south of the city of Oulu. Rakel Liehu
Rakel Liehu (born 3 September 1939) is a Finnish poet, dramatist and novelist. Works Liehu began writing poetry at the age of 11, inspired by the works of women poets such as Aila Meriluoto, and has since gone on to publish 13 poetry collections. She has also authored three novels, as well as two plays and various scripts. Her debut poetry collection, ''Ihmisen murhe on yhteinen'' ( 'The Grief of a Person is Shared'), came out in 1974, and her first novel, ''Seth Mattsonin tarina'' ('The Story of Seth Mattson'), in 1976. Her perhaps best-known work is ''Helene'' (2003), a novel about the life of the Finnish artist Helene Schjerfbeck, which won the 2004 Runeberg Prize. List Of Cities And Towns In Finland
The following is a list of cities in Finland. In the year 1977, the legal difference between towns and municipalities was removed. Today they are all classified as municipalities, some of which are commonly referred to as cities ''(kaupunki'' in Finnish, ''stad'' in Swedish). A municipality can decide whether it calls itself a municipality or a city. but ''suurkaupunki'' (~ large town) is used for a few cities in Finland. This fits the EU's definition of a city, which has the criteria of a minimum population of 50,000 and a minimum population density of 500 inhabitants per square kilometer. A simple, independent decision in the municipal council is sufficient to call a municipality (''kunta'') a city (''kaupunki''). For cities founded before the 1960s, the list includes the year the city was chartered.
