Nita Pannell
Nita Veronica Pannell (1 July 1904 – 29 September 1994) was an Australian teacher, actress and theatre director. In the 1950s Pannell produced a number of plays and operettas for Perth amateur groups such as ''The Playboy of the Western World'' (Phoenix Players), ''The Pirates of Penzance'' (Gilbert and Sullivan Society), ''St Patrick's Day'' (Chiron Club) and ''The New Moon'' (Repertory Club). Notable performances Pannell appeared as Mum in the professional premiere of Alan Seymour's ''The'' ''One Day of the Year'' at the Palace Theatre in Sydney. She toured with the play to England with fellow cast members Ron Haddrick and Reg Lye. Patrick White wrote ''A Cheery Soul'' with Pannell in mind for the role of Miss Docker. In the 1963 premiere, her performance was described as "brilliant" by ''The Bulletin.'' Hay Fever (play)

Its first production was in the West End theatre, West End in 1925 with Marie Tempest as Judith Bliss. A cross between high farce and a comedy of manners, the play is set in an English country house in the 1920s, and deals with the four eccentric members of the Bliss family and their outlandish behaviour when they each invite a guest to spend the weekend. The self-centred behaviour of the hosts finally drives their guests to flee while the Blisses are so engaged in a family row that they do not notice their guests' furtive departure. The play's original production opened in London in 1925 and ran for 337 performances. Coward wrote the piece with Tempest in mind for the central role of Judith. Patrick White
Patrick Victor Martindale White (28 May 1912 – 30 September 1990) was a British-born Australian writer who published 12 novels, three short-story collections, and eight plays, from 1935 to 1987. White's fiction employs humour, florid prose, shifting narrative vantage points and stream of consciousness techniques. In 1973 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature, "for an epic and psychological narrative art which has introduced a new continent into literature", as it says in the Swedish Academy's citation, the only Australian to have been awarded the prize.J. M. Coetzee won the award in 2003 as a South African citizen, before he became an Australian citizen in 2006. White was also the inaugural recipient of the Miles Franklin Award. Order Of Australia
The Order of Australia is an honour that recognises Australian citizens and other persons for outstanding achievement and service. It was established on 14 February 1975 by Elizabeth II, Queen of Australia, on the advice of the Australian Government. Before the establishment of the order, Australian citizens received British honours. The Monarch of Australia is sovereign head of the order, while the Governor-General of Australia is the principal companion/dame/knight (as relevant at the time) and chancellor of the order. The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service. It was established on 4 June 1917 by King George V and comprises five classes across both civil and military divisions, the most senior two of which make the recipient either a knight if male or dame if female. Perth Festival, named Perth International Arts Festival (PIAF) between 2000 and 2017, and sometimes referred to as the Festival of Perth, is Australia's longest-running cultural festival, held annually in Western Australia. Mary Durack
Dame Mary Durack (20 February 1913 – 16 December 1994) was an Australian author and historian. She wrote ''Kings in Grass Castles'' and ''Keep Him My Country''. Childhood Mary Durack, born in Adelaide, South Australia, to Michael Patrick Durack (1865–1950) and Bessie Durack (née Johnstone), and her siblings lived at the remote Argyle Downs and Ivanhoe cattle stations in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. In the late 1920s and early 1930s Mary and her sister Elizabeth would manage the Ivanhoe cattle station, whilst their brother would leave to manage Argyle Downs. During these times they would live and work very closely with the indigenous people who worked on, and lived near the station. ''Night on Bald Mountain'' is a play by Australian writer Patrick White. The action takes place during twenty-four hours on isolated Bald Mountain beyond Sydney. White had called it the first true Australian tragedy. It premiered in March 1964 by the University of Adelaide Theatre Guild for the as yet unestablished "Fringe" alongside the Adelaide Festival of the Arts that year.
