Nissar Hussain Khan
Ustad Nissar Hussain Khan (1909–1993) was an Indian classical vocalist from the Rampur-Sahaswan gharana. He was a disciple and son of Fida Hussain Khan and after a long and illustrious career was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1971. He was the court musician of Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III at Baroda and was featured extensively on All India Radio. He was a specialist in Tarana. His most famous disciples are Ghulam Mustafa Khan and Rashid Khan. Vocal style Khansahib inherited a vast repertoire of well-known and obscure melodies from his forebearers. His rich, resonant voice was cultivated through decades of training. He embellishes the modal form of the ragas with flashes of " gamaks", " bol-taans" and " sargams". Hindustani classical music is the classical music of northern regions of the Indian subcontinent. It may also be called North Indian classical music or, in Hindustani, ''shastriya sangeet'' (). It is played in instruments like the violin, sitar and sarod. Its origins from the 12th century CE, when it diverged from Carnatic music, the classical tradition in South India. Budaun is commonly pronounced Badayun is a city and a seat of Budaun district, Uttar Pradesh, India. It is located near the Ganges river in the centre of Western Uttar Pradesh. Hafeez Ahmed Khan
Hafeez Ahmed Khan (died 2006) was an Indian classical musician of Hindustani classical music. He is known as one of the leading exponents of the Rampur-Sahaswan gharana, a musical school popular in the northern parts of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. He learnt music in gurukul system and pursued his academic studies the conventional way, secured a master's degree in politics and taught at the University of Minnesota. He was a deputy director of the All India Radio and the vice chancellor of the Indira Kala Sangeet University, the only Indian university dedicated to music. He mentored many disciples such as Rajendra Prasanna, Roma Rani Bhattacharya, Sakuntala Narasimhan and Subhendu Ghosh and acted in a German movie on the life of Tansen, by name, ''The Rain Maker''. Kalyani is a melakarta raga (parent musical scale) in the Carnatic music. It was called Kalyan but is now more popularly called Yaman in Hindustani Music. Its Western equivalent is the Lydian mode. Gaud Sarang
Gaud Sarang is a raga in Hindustani classical music that combines characteristics of Sarang and the now extinct raga named Gaud. Unlike most other members of the Sarang family of ragas, Gaud Sarang is assigned to the Kalyan thaat rather than the usual Kafi. The Indian National Anthem Jana gana mana is sung in the raga Gaud Sarang. It is believed that the National Anthem of India is in raga Bilaval, but it isn't like that. Bahar is a Hindustani classical raga. This raga is very similar (but still distinct) to raga Malhar. This raga is from the Kafi Thaat. Mushtaq Hussain Khan
Ustad Mushtaq Hussain Khan (1878–1964) was an Indian classical vocalist. He belonged to the Rampur-Sahaswan gharana. Early life Mushtaq Hussain was born in a family of traditional musicians in Sahaswan, a small town in Budaun District of Uttar Pradesh. It is where he grew up and spent his boyhood. He lisped musical notes almost before learned to speak. Although music came to him quite early in life, he was only 10 when his father Ustad Kallan Khan held his hand and began giving him regular lessons, or rather introduced him into this art. Mushtaq Hussain Khan was twelve when he became a disciple of Ustad Haider Khan and went with him to Kathmandu, Nepal. He then began taking minimal music training from Haider Khan.
