Nirmal Singh Kahlon
Nirmal Singh Kahlon (1942/1943 – 16 July 2022) was an Indian politician and member of Shiromani Akali Dal. He was the speaker of the Punjab Legislative Assembly. Posts held in the State of Punjab *Minister of Rural Development and Panchayats State of Punjab from 1997 to 2002. *Speaker of the Punjab Legislative Assembly from 2007 to 2012. Controversies Kahlon was charged in a recruitment scam case but was later acquitted by the courts. Personal life Kahlon was married to Surinder Kaur Kahlon. She died in 2015. Punjab Legislative Assembly
The Punjab Legislative Assembly or the Punjab Vidhan Sabha is the unicameral legislature of the state of Punjab in India. The Sixteenth Punjab Legislative Assembly was constituted in March 2022. At present, it consists of 117 members, directly elected from 117 single-seat constituencies. The tenure of the Legislative Assembly is five years unless dissolved sooner. The Speaker of the sixteenth assembly is Kultar Singh Sandhwan. The meeting place of the Legislative Assembly since 6 March 1961 is the ''Vidhan Bhavan'' in Chandigarh. Rajendra Arlekar is an Indian statesman who is current and 31st Governor of Bihar. He previously served as the 21st Governor of Himachal Pradesh, being the first person serving as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh from Goa. The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) (translation: ''Supreme Akali Party'') is a centre-right sikh-centric state political party in Punjab, India. The party is the second-oldest in India, after Congress, being founded in 1920.
