Nipun Malinga
Lamahewage Nipun Malinga (born 27 February 2000) is a Sri Lankan cricketer. He made his List A debut on 14 December 2019, for Colts Cricket Club in the 2019–20 Invitation Limited Over Tournament. Prior to his List A debut, he was named in Sri Lanka's squad for the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He made his first-class debut on 7 February 2020, for Colts Cricket Club in the 2019–20 Premier League Tournament. He made his Twenty20 debut on 6 March 2021, for Colts Cricket Club in the 2020–21 SLC Twenty20 Tournament. In April 2022, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) named him in the Sri Lanka Emerging Team's squad for their tour to England. Galle
Galle ( si, ගාල්ල, translit=Gālla; ta, காலி, translit=Kāli) (formerly Point de Galle) is a major city in Sri Lanka, situated on the southwestern tip, from Colombo. Twenty20
Twenty20 (T20) is a shortened game format of cricket. At the professional level, it was introduced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2003 for the inter-county competition. In a Twenty20 game, the two teams have a single innings each, which is restricted to a maximum of 20 overs. The Lanka Premier League (abbreviated as LPL; , ) is a professional cricket league in Sri Lanka in Twenty20 format contested every year by teams representing Sri Lankan cities from 2020. The league was founded by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) in 2018. In August 2020, Ravin Wickramaratne, the Vice President of SLC was officially appointed as the director of the tournament. History Background Originally, the first season was supposed to be held from 18 August to 10 September 2018, but postponed multiple times due to administrative issues within SLC. 2022 Lanka Premier League
The 2022 Lanka Premier League also known as Mazaplay LPL T20, for sponsorship reasons, was the third edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) Twenty20 franchise cricket tournament in Sri Lanka. It was originally scheduled to take place from 31 July to 21 August 2022 with Sri Lanka Cricket initially having promised to conduct LPL tournament targeting the August window. The ODI series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka were scrapped due to the hosting of this tournament. However, in July 2022, the tournament was postponed due to the economic crisis in Sri Lanka, with the aim to play it later in 2022. The tournament was later rescheduled to be held from 6 to 23 December 2022. The tournament also emphasized to promote and boost both the economy and international tourism. Sri Lanka Cricket
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is the governing body for cricket in Sri Lanka. It was first registered with the Sri Lankan Ministry of Sports (Sri Lanka), Ministry of Sports as the Board of Cricket for Sri Lanka (BCCSL) on 30 June 1975 as a national sports body. 2019–20 Premier League Tournament
The 2019–20 Premier League Tournament was the 32nd season of first-class cricket in Sri Lanka's Premier Trophy. The tournament started on 31 January 2020 and was originally scheduled to conclude on 12 April 2020. Fourteen teams took part in the competition, split into two groups of seven. Sri Lanka Ports Authority Cricket Club were relegated at the end of the previous tournament, with Lankan Cricket Club replacing them in this tournament after they gained promotion from Tier B. Colombo Cricket Club were the defending champions. On 16 March 2020, following the conclusion of the group stage fixtures, Sri Lanka Cricket postponed the rest of the tournament due to the COVID-19 pandemic. All-rounder
An all-rounder is a cricketer who regularly performs well at both batting and bowling. Although all bowlers must bat and quite a handful of batsmen do bowl occasionally, most players are skilled in only one of the two disciplines and are considered specialists. First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams.
