Nipun Dananjaya
Nipun Dananjaya (born 28 September 2000) is a Sri Lankan cricketer. He made his first-class debut for Sinhalese Sports Club in the 2018–19 Premier League Tournament on 14 December 2018. Prior to his first-class debut, he was named in Sri Lanka's squad for the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He made his Twenty20 debut for Sinhalese Sports Club in the 2018–19 SLC Twenty20 Tournament on 19 February 2019. In January 2020, he was named as the captain of Sri Lanka's squad for the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. In March 2021, he was part of the Sinhalese Sports Club team that won the 2020–21 SLC Twenty20 Tournament, the first time they had won the tournament since 2005. He made his List A debut on 24 March 2021, for Sinhalese Sports Club in the 2020–21 Major Clubs Limited Over Tournament. Chilaw
Chilaw ( si, හලාවත, translit=Halāvata, ta, சிலாபம், translit=Cilāpam) is a large town in Puttalam District, North Western Province, Sri Lanka. It is governed by an urban council. The town is located 80 kilometres away from Colombo via Negombo. Etymology The name Chilaw derives its name from its Tamil name ''Cilāpam'', meaning pearl fishery. Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cathedral The seat of the Chilaw Diocese, this cathedral has a history of more than two centuries. According to legend, 200 years ago, most of what is now Chilaw Town was covered by a forest. A woman was searching for firewood and heard the sound of a lady speaking, "Please take me". She stopped her work and searched for the source of the sound. A statue of Mother Mary was on a tree. 2021 SLC Invitational T20 League
The 2021 SLC Invitational T20 League was a Twenty20 cricket tournament that took place in Sri Lanka from 12 to 24 August 2021. All the matches were played at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, in Kandy, and were used as preparation for South Africa's tour of Sri Lanka and the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. Four teams took part, with the top two sides playing each other in the final. Both of the matches scheduled to take place on the opening day of the tournament were rescheduled to the following day due to rain. Following a COVID-19 case in the team hotel, the matches scheduled for 20 August 2021 were moved back by one day. In the final group match, SLC Reds beat SLC Greens by six wickets to join SLC Greys in the final of the tournament. In the final, SLC Greys beat SLC Reds by 42 runs to win the tournament. The Lanka Premier League (abbreviated as LPL; , ) is a professional cricket league in Sri Lanka in Twenty20 format contested every year by teams representing Sri Lankan cities from 2020. The league was founded by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) in 2018. In August 2020, Ravin Wickramaratne, the Vice President of SLC was officially appointed as the director of the tournament. History Background Originally, the first season was supposed to be held from 18 August to 10 September 2018, but postponed multiple times due to administrative issues within SLC. 2022 Lanka Premier League
The 2022 Lanka Premier League also known as Mazaplay LPL T20, for sponsorship reasons, was the third edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) Twenty20 franchise cricket tournament in Sri Lanka. It was originally scheduled to take place from 31 July to 21 August 2022 with Sri Lanka Cricket initially having promised to conduct LPL tournament targeting the August window. The ODI series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka were scrapped due to the hosting of this tournament. However, in July 2022, the tournament was postponed due to the economic crisis in Sri Lanka, with the aim to play it later in 2022. The tournament was later rescheduled to be held from 6 to 23 December 2022. The tournament also emphasized to promote and boost both the economy and international tourism. Jaffna Kings, formerly known as Jaffna Stallions, are a franchise cricket team which plays in the Lanka Premier League (LPL). On December 16, 2020, the team won the inaugural Lanka Premier League 2020 Championship and are the current title holder of the tournament. The team captain Thisara Perera and Shoaib Malik both played pivotal roles in the win. The team is coached by former Sri Lankan captain Thilina Kandamby. Thisara Perera is the team's captain. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is the governing body for cricket in Sri Lanka.
