Nina Rocheva
Nina Petrovna Rocheva (russian: Нина Петровна Рочева, Selyunina; 13 October 1948 – 8 January 2022) was a Soviet Union, Soviet cross-country skiing (sport), cross-country skier who competed from 1978 to 1980. She won a silver medal in the 4 × 5 km relay at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York. Rocheva also earned two medals in the 4 × 5 km relay at the world ski championships: gold (under her maiden name Selyunina at the 1974 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, 1974 Championships in Falun, Sweden, and bronze at the 1978 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, 1978 World Championships in Lahti, Finland. She was married to the Soviet Olympic champion in cross-country skiing Vasily Rochev (skier, born 1951), Vasily (Pavlovich) Rochev, she is the mother of Vasily Rochev (skier, born 1980), Vasily (Vasilyevich) Rochev, also Olympic medalist in that discipline. Competitive cross-country skiing encompasses a variety of race formats and course lengths. Rules of cross-country skiing are sanctioned by the International Ski Federation and by various national organizations. International competitions include the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, the FIS Cross-Country World Cup, and at the Winter Olympic Games. Such races occur over homologated, groomed courses designed to support classic (in-track) and freestyle events, where the skiers may employ skate skiing. It also encompasses cross-country ski marathon events, sanctioned by the Worldloppet Ski Federation, and cross-country ski orienteering events, sanctioned by the International Orienteering Federation. FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 1974
The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 1974 took place 16–24 February 1974 in Falun, Sweden. This was the second time this city hosted the event having done so in 1954. The women's 3 × 5 km relay changed to a 4 × 5 km relay at these championships. The Universiade is an international multi-sport event, organized for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The name is a portmanteau of the words "University" and "Olympiad". The Universiade is referred to in English as the World University Games or World Student Games; however, this latter term can also refer to competitions for sub-University grades students. In July 2020 as part of a new branding system by the FISU, it was stated that the Universiade will be officially branded as the FISU World University Games.
