Nina Power
Nina Power is an English writer and philosopher. She is a senior editor of and columnist for the online magazine ''Compact''. Power received her PhD in philosophy from Middlesex University on the topic of humanism and antihumanism in postwar French philosophy, and also has an MA and BA in philosophy from the University of Warwick. She was a senior lecturer in philosophy at Roehampton University, and has taught at Middlesex, Orpington College, London College of Communication, Morley College. Power also worked as a tutor in critical writing in art and design at the Royal College of Art, is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a member of the British Philosophical Association. She served as both editor and translator (with Alberto Toscano) of Alain Badiou's ''On Beckett''. Compact (American Magazine)
''Compact'' is an American online magazine that began operating in March 2022. The magazine was co-founded by Marxist populist Edwin Aponte, former editor of the conservative ecumenical journal ''First Things'', Matthew Schmitz, and conservative opinion journalist Sohrab Ahmari. ''The New York Times'' describes the magazine's editors as being ideologically diverse, including religiously conservative Catholics, populists and dissident Marxist feminists. The magazine's editorial line is critical of liberalism from both the left and the right. Planning for the launch of the magazine began in 2020 between Ahmari and Schmitz, who later incorporated Aponte on the condition that half of the site's content cover "material concerns". ''Compact'' launched without a paywall for its first few weeks and is now run on a reader-funded model, requiring a paid subscription to access all of the articles on the site. ''The Wire'' (or simply ''Wire'') is a British music magazine publishing out of London, which has been issued monthly in print since 1982. Its website launched in 1997, and an online archive of its entire back catalog became available to subscribers in 2013. Since 1985, the magazine's annual year-in-review issue, Rewind, has named an album or release of the year based on critics' ballots. Originally, ''The Wire'' covered the British jazz scene with an emphasis on avant-garde and free jazz. It was marketed as a more adventurous alternative to its conservative competitor ''Jazz Journal'', and targeted younger readers at a time when ''Melody Maker'' had abandoned jazz coverage. Arte
Arte (; (), sometimes stylized in lowercase or uppercase in its logo) is a European public service channel dedicated to culture. It is made up of three separate companies: the Strasbourg-based European Economic Interest Grouping ARTE, plus two member companies acting as editorial and programme production centres, ARTE France in Paris (formerly known as La Sept) and ARTE Deutschland in Baden-Baden (a subsidiary of the two main public German TV networks ARD and ZDF). As an international joint venture (an EEIG), its programmes focus on audiences in both countries. Because of this, the channel has two audio tracks and two subtitle tracks, one each in French and German. 80% of Arte's programming is provided by its French and German subsidiaries, each making half of the programmes. Marx Reloaded
''Marx Reloaded'' is a 2011 German documentary film written and directed by the British writer and theorist Jason Barker. Featuring interviews with several well-known philosophers, the film aims to examine the relevance of Karl Marx's ideas in relation to the Great Recession. The film's title is a wordplay on ''The Matrix Reloaded'', the sequel to ''The Matrix'', which is parodied in the documentary. Raymond Brassier (born 1965) is a British philosopher. He is member of the philosophy faculty at the American University of Beirut, Lebanon, known for his work in philosophical realism. He was formerly Research Fellow at the Centre for Research in Modern European Philosophy at Middlesex University, London, England. Justin Clemens
Justin Clemens (born 22 April 1969) is an Australian academic known for his work on Alain Badiou, psychoanalysis, European philosophy, and contemporary Australian art and literature. He is also a published poet. Background Clemens studied at the University of Melbourne, gaining his PhD on "Institution, aesthetics, nihilism : the Romanticism of contemporary theory" in 1999. He then lectured in Psychoanalytic Studies at Deakin University, before moving to the School of Culture and Communication at the University of Melbourne in the late 2000s where he is Senior Lecturer. ''Icon'' magazine was a bi-monthly magazine set up in 2003 by ex-professional footballers Tim Sherwood and Jamie Redknapp as well as Redknapp's wife Louise. The magazine was the first venture of Redknapp Publications and its readership was exclusive as it was not sold in shops and it was aimed at a celebrity readership. Originally intended to be just for professional footballers, it branched out to many other international sports people as well as television personalities, actors and selected first class airport lounges. Official readership stood around 25,000. The magazine had four sections: StyleIcon, FashionIcon, LifestyleIcon and TravelIcon.
