Nimdoma Sherpa
Nimdoma Sherpa (born 1991) from Gauri Sankar, Dolakha District is a Nepalese mountain climber. In 2008 she became the youngest woman to climb Mount Everest and in 2009 she joined the Seven Summits Women Team, a team of Nepalese women whose goal is to climb the Seven Summits. Early life Nimdoma Sherpa was born into a poor Sherpa family in a remote Himalayan village in Nepal. At five years old, she began attending school through a school meals program run by the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP). Originally, her parents sent her to school for the opportunity to receive a healthy meal each day, but Nimdoma gradually became a high achiever and she moved to Kathmandu to attend a larger school. When she graduated from high school, she became the first in her family to do so. Gaurishankar is currently referred to as Ward No. 9 under Gaurishankar Rural Municipality in Bagmati Province, Dolakha District of Nepal. Dicky Dolma
Dicky Dolma (born 5 April 1974) is an Indian mountaineer, known for being the youngest woman to summit Mount Everest up to that time at the age of 19 on 10 May 1993. This occurred on the Indo-Nepal Everest Expedition. This Indo-Nepal Women's Everest Expedition was led by Bachendri Pal who was the first Indian woman to summit Mount Everest in 1984. Dicky was also a skier and attended numerous sporting competitions including the 1989 All-India Open Auli Ski Festival and the Asian Winter Games in 1999. She took ski training courses and basic mountaineering courses by the Manali Institute. In the same expedition as Dicky Dolma, Santosh Yadav summited Mount Everest for the second time, the first woman to summit twice. Ming Kipa
Ming Kipa ( ne, मिङ किपा शेर्पा) (born 1988) is a Nepalese Sherpa woman who held the record as the youngest person to climb Mount Everest from 2003 to 2010. She reached the summit on May 22, 2003 when she was 15 years old, with her brother Mingma Gyula and her sister Lhakpa. Nepalese law does not allow climbers under 16 to climb Everest, so Ming Kipa Sherpa summitted Everest from the Chinese side. Her record was broken in 2010 when Jordan Romero reached the summit on May 22 of that year at the age of 13 years, 10 months. The previous record holder was Temba Tsheri who climbed Everest at the age of 16 in 2001. Lhakpa Sherpa (also Lakpa) ( ne, Lakhpa Sherpa; born 1973) is a Nepalese Sherpa mountain climber. She has climbed Mount Everest ten times, the most of any woman in the world. Her record-breaking tenth climb was on May 12, 2022, which she financed via a crowd-funding campaign. In 2000, she became the first Nepali woman to climb and descend Everest successfully. In 2016, she was listed as one of BBC's 100 Women. Early life Lhakpa Sherpa was born in a cave in the region, and had no formal education. She grew up in Balakharka, a village in the Makalu, Nepal region of the Himalayas. She is one of 11 children, and is a single mother of two daughters and a son herself. Vinson Massif () is a large mountain massif in Antarctica that is long and wide and lies within the Sentinel Range of the Ellsworth Mountains.
