Nilwan Kabang
Datuk Nilwan bin Kabang is a Malaysian politician. He served as State Assistant Minister of Rural Development of Sabah in the Barisan Nasional (BN) state administration under Chief Minister Musa Aman Musa Bin Haji Aman ( Jawi: موسى بن حاج أمان; born 30 March 1951) is a Malaysian politician who served as the 14th Chief Minister, State Minister of Finance from March 2003 to May 2018, Member of the Sabah State Legislative Assemb ... from 2013 to 2018 as well as Member of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Kunak from March 2008 to May 2018. He was a member of United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), a component party of Barisan Nasional (BN). Death Nilwan Kabang died on 19 September 2021 at the age of 71 due to Covid-19. 2008 Sabah State Election
The 2008 Sabah state election was held on Saturday, 8 March 2008, simultaneously with the 12th general election of Malaysia. 60 state assembly seats were contested. The election was won by the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition with a similar number of seats won as in the previous election, where they won 59 seats. One seat was won by Democratic Action Party (DAP). In the previous election, BN won 59 seats, while one seat was won by an independent candidate. Other parties contesting in this election are Democratic Action Party, Parti Keadilan Rakyat, BERSEKUTU, Pasok, Setia, and 47 independent candidates. The 25 parliamentary seats were also contested the same time. Sabah People's Hope Party or ms, Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah (Harapan Rakyat / HR ) is a Sabah-based party. The party was formed on 25 October 2016, founded by Lajim Ukin. It was previously a party in the alliance of United Sabah Alliance (USA) from 2017 until 2018. In 2019, Harapan Rakyat planned and was supposed to hold an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) to dissolve the party and absorb its 64,000 members into Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU) at the launch of the party's Sabah chapter on 6 April 2019 in Kota Kinabalu. 2018 Sabah State Election
The 2018 Sabah state election took place on 9 May 2018 in concurrence with the 14th Malaysian general election. This election was to elect 60 members of the 15th Sabah State Legislative Assembly. The previous Assembly was dissolved on 7 April 2018. Barisan Nasional (BN), with the most seats, would be able to form a minority government alone. But BN and Homeland Solidarity Party (STAR) decided to form a group of 31 seats, which would allow them to form a coalition government. Musa Aman reinstalled as Chief Minister on 10 May 2018. However, Sabah Heritage Party (WARISAN) (including 6 BN assemblymen who switched allegiance to WARISAN), Democratic Action Party (DAP) and People's Justice Party (PKR), with confidence and supply of United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (UPKO), managed to form a pact of 39 seats in order to form a coalition government.
